"And that's when you found me?" Alex asked.
"Right. Well, not me, it was Laura and Jacob that found you, along with the rest of their team. You were in bad shape so we rushed you straight here, where you were healed overnight. End of story." James clapped his hands together like he was closing a book he had just finished reading.
"What about the detective?"
"Both dead. Your lightning completely fried detective Kon, he died almost instantly according to the coroner. Detective Barnelli was still breathing when you were found but her body was so intensely burned, both inside and out, that she was beyond saving with this city's healers."
While listening to James describe the deaths of the two detectives, Alex felt mostly satisfaction. That satisfaction was clouded by his desire to see the two detectives suffer more than they had, to make sure they understood how big a mistake they had made right before he finally killed him.
