Bab 39: Chapter 39: A New Day; A New Me

With the sun flittering through the curtains, which flutter in the gentle breeze, I wake up to the dawn of a new day.

I’m rolled in a cozy blanket, the softest pillows I’ve ever lain on, and more bed than I know what to do with. Or, well, I know exactly what to do on it.

But my other half doesn’t seem to be around to follow through.

The disappointment that settles in my chest is the last thing I expected to deal with when I woke up this morning, but here I am, forced to face it.

I slide to the edge of the bed, my feet grazing the cold floor. The clock changes; it’s early afternoon.

The shock I slept so long washes away with how empty the room feels. If I didn’t live last night, it would be impossible to know it ever happened. My clothes are folded neatly on a lounge next to the window, but I chuckle. Not even I can imagine Maverick folding clothes.
