Vengeance - tormentor of my dreams,
The wickedness brought such sorrow,
And the anger forever spiting,
But in the fact that it was whispering,
What could there be more purely exciting,
Than villains that are congested...
...
..
.
"Damn it, where are you?! Do you have-"
"P-please, please! I promise I won-"
Beep...beep...beep...
"Haahh...Fucking shit!"
BAM!
Documents that were lying on the desk, were scattered around due to the frustration and fear of a middle-aged man. Shaking, he stood up with wobbly legs and a voice laced with the anger of a raging bull said,
"You fuckin' listen to me alright, we're leaving this place A.S.A.P."
With each word slowly spoken, akin to a hissing snake, he made his way towards the door. However, as he was about to turn the knob, he looked back at his subordinates who were noticeably shaking in their boots as well.
"And make sure to burn these documents...Fuck it, burn the whole place down!"
With that said, he opened the door only to have the muzzle of a gun touch his forehead.
"You gott-"
BANG!
"Hmmm~ What, cat got ya tongue?"
The newcomer looked around with a mischievous glint in their eyes, as they scanned every single person in the room.
And with a shit-eating grin behind their mask,
"Pathetic."
"You bastard!"
Overcoming the unexpected situation and as much as the fear took hold of their minds, they began firing bullets at the newcomer.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
The individual quickly closed the door with that same grin while leisurely walking in the dark corridors.
"And..."
BOOM!
An explosion occurred immediately after,
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Sounds of other faint explosions can be heard further from the current location, clearly indicating that this wasn't the only place littered with bombs.
In fact...
"Fear-stricken cowards, always so easily distracted. Allowing a bomb to so easily slip past their eyes."
With a mocking sneer, they continued muttering, seemingly talking to themselves amidst the terror and chaos they caused around the city.
"Oh dear, we do have to lay low after this..."
This time, however, their pace quickened before running at a full sprint towards a window in front of them.
Putting their guard up, they smashed right through it before falling.
'I'll never get tired of this...'
Still, in a situation like this, all that could be felt was the pure thrill and rush of adrenaline, and with the agility and dexterity of a cat, they quickly grabbed a lamppost that was conveniently close and used the momentum to change direction.
TUD!
...
"That superhero landing wasn't quite what I expected though...shit."
Yeah, especially when that landing was on...
"Can you get off me?"
"No, you feel like a soft cushion, it's comfortable."
"We're in a rush."
"Right."
"..."
"Move. Now."
"Tch, always so fucking grumpy."
The individual, though, intentionally moved slower so the person under can suffer more. However, things don't always go in their favor.
"Argh!"
They got roughly pushed away, before the person that cushioned their fall got up, not forgetting to look around their surroundings.
"Get up. We have to-"
"Yeah, I know, I know, couldn't you be more gentle, like for fuck's-Kyaa!"
"Too slow."
"Edi stop! Please I'm sowwy!"
"Quiet."
The individual got picked up like a sack of potatoes before 'the person' rushed through the streets and made jumps that were practically inhuman, especially when they had an extra 'individual' on top of their shoulder.
Fwoosh! Fwoosh!
Just like that their silhouettes slowly disappeared into the darkness, making the place they were at tranquil again...kind of.
...
..
.
"This feels so much better. Finally fresh air!"
Viewing the nightlife of Manhattan from above, especially during the night, was quite refreshing due to their recent escapade. The nightlife as usual brimmed with activities, anyhow, it couldn't have gotten more chaotic. Sirens overshadowed everything as police cars, fire trucks, and many more rushed through the streets.
"Right?"
"Hm."
'Edi' or rather Edison looked at this particular woman in front of him with a frown. His expression was as dark as the night sky itself, before looking away and sighing.
That woman was his sister, his older sister Madison or 'Madi' just like his nickname. He couldn't even begin on how quirky this sibling of his was.
Edison looked at her again, who for some reason, pouted but chose to ignore it like he always did.
She was quite beautiful in her own way, inheriting most of her beauty from their mother, while her ruby-like eyes shone brightly in the darkness. The clothes she wore at the moment, were pure black, incredibly close to the fashion from Assassin's Creed, except more 'modernized'. Edi could see that some of the functions on her clothes, particularly the knives that were supposed to be hidden inside her leather-like hand gauntlets, were gone.
He frowned again before taking something out of his back pockets.
"Here."
Edison handed over the supposedly missing knives that she had lost and without letting her speak out her thoughts, he spoke,
"You went without me."
He slowly stood up and walked towards her.
"Without informing me that you were going to do this tonight."
Madison was definitely a bit nervous now, a complete contrast from how she was when dealing with the criminals, so in an attempt, she tried to wiggle her way out of this conversation while trying to defuse the 'bomb' in front of her who was prominently on the verge of exploding.
"Wait! I can explain."
Though that was enough to stop his advance, she still had to come up with a reasonable explanation. Also, seeing that Edison was silently glaring at her with his cold and emotionless eyes, she could still see traces of confusion which she found adorable.
"You see, for the past few months we've already planned that we were going to do this. We both agreed that when sufficient information has been gathered, we could theoretically do this without prep-time. So while you did your own thing, collecting intel from these human and drug traffickers, I went out during the night to scout and see where they'd likely meet up and hold their meetings. And lo and behold, look! We completed our mission faster than anticipated because of that and I found this!"
Rummaging through her bag, she held several tubes of liquid in front of his face. She had a triumphant look on her face, like a child presenting her drawing to her mother.
And...
"Ohh."
For the first time, Edison had a look of surprise on his face, though as quickly as it had appeared, it got replaced by his emotionless one.
"Madi."
"Y-yes?"
"I'm proud. Good job. Though...forget it."
"Wu-what? Hey, Edi~ Could you repeat that?"
"I'm proud of you."
"Hehe, I thought you were gonna pretend you didn't say that like those typical tsund-huh wait for me!"
Edison quickly jumped off the high-rise building, briskly and steadily gliding through the wind with his deployed glider.
"Arghhh! You brat, you know I hate doing this!"
Not wanting to fall behind, she quickly did the same, following her brother.
Yes, no matter how many times they did this, it was still a nerve-racking experience nonetheless.
But today was an exception, as she glided into the night with a smile on her face, feeling happy.

{1st POV.}
28.01.2023
Saturday, morning, 6:59 AM.
Tick.
Tick.
Tick.
7:00 AM.
It kept ticking. The clock on the wall.
Reminding us of a new day. However last night, wasn't so forgiving for many of us. Leaving many scared for the future. Fear of what might happen next.
The screams that cried out after finding burnt and mutilated corpses under the collapsed buildings. It must've been traumatizing. That I know.
Sirens have been ongoing all night.
In a way, it didn't disturb me.
So I drown it out like I always do.
Sleeping through the pain and suffering of numerous individuals.
Is it truly right what I am doing?
No. I've already crossed the line long ago. No. We've already crossed the line.
Sometimes I wish she hadn't joined me in this needless pursuit of mine. Sometimes I want to know what it would be like if I were kept in the dark about all the ugliness of the world and lived in ignorance.
However, it's impossible. Knowing how many people are suffering injustice because of 'them'.
Knowing I was born with a diamond spoon, I thought I could do something, change something.
'I decided to take on a huge burden, not for the fame, wealth, reputation. I've chosen it because it's necessary so that others don't have to carry it in the future."
Something my father used to say with a smile. I wanted to be like him. Tried...
But, with each passing day, my doubt grows.
Am I truly helping? Or am I just the fan that keeps fanning the ever-growing flame of brutality and anarchy?
Was my father delusional? Did he have an underlying meaning behind what he said?
I don't know.
I...truly don't know.
I...
I really just felt like writing this. I don't know. Tell me if it's too edgy. Probably is, though I hope not. Please support maybe? Peace!
