Bab 39: The Day 9

Matthew's breath rose and fell wildly as his nose touched Max's neck. The smell of blood wafting from the veins in Max's neck was driving him crazy. Inside, Matthew struggled to contain the urge to bite Max's neck and suck his blood quickly.

"Stop it, Matt," Lily said, holding Matthew's hand.

Max laughed softly. He could feel Matthew's breath on his neck. "Do it, Matt. I don't mind."

Matthew closed his eyes. He gasped as he regained consciousness. Matthew immediately let go of Max roughly. After that, he turned to Lily. "Do you guys have blood bags?"

Max laughed when he heard the question Matthew asked Lily. "You think this laboratory is a blood bank? Our research involved frozen corpses. Why do we keep blood bags? After all, I'm in front of you. I don't even fight if you want to suck my blood."

Lily glared at Max. She really couldn't believe what Max was doing. She did not expect Max to become a different person after her father's death. All this time, Lily knew Max as a good person and cared about her father.

Lily immediately pulled Matthew's hand away from Max. "Don't listen to him, Matt. I can find a blood bag for you. But for the time being, you have to restrain your urge to suck blood."

Matthew turned and stared at Lily for a moment. He then nodded his head. "I can still endure it."

Max suddenly joined in. "How long can you last without sucking blood? Aren't you afraid your strong body will weaken again because you don't suck blood?"

"Come on, Matt. We're leaving here. Just leave him here," said Lily. She didn't recognize Max, who was now standing in front of her.

Matthew nodded his head.

Lily then looked at Max. "Goodbye, Max. I hope we won't see each other again."

Lily then walked away from the control room. Matthew immediately followed behind her. But when he was about to leave the control room, Matthew turned quickly and went back to Max.

Matthew immediately grabbed Max by the neck and pushed him against the wall. Then without hesitation, Matthew bit Max's neck. He grinned as he looked at Max and showed a row of pointed teeth.

Max's body flopped against the wall as Matthew sucked his blood. Matthew suddenly released Max's body on the sidelines of his enjoyment of sucking blood. Instantly Max fell to the floor, clutching his neck.

Matthew stood in front of Max while cleaning the remaining blood around his mouth. He then glared at Max. "Don't try to look for Lily or me. I will take her far away from here."

Max looked at Matthew in horror while pressing the wound on his neck. His breath was panting because of the blood still running down his neck. There was nothing Max could do but press the area of the wound so he wouldn't bleed more.

Matthew finally left Max, still trying to survive in the control room.

Ryan immediately stood up from the sofa he was sitting on as soon as Lily entered the observation room. Ryan slowly approached Lily, standing near the observation room bed while squeezing the edge of the bed. Lily stepped quickly into the room with an expression filled with disappointment.

Carefully, Ryan grabbed Lily's shoulder and tried to ask her. "How is it going? Is it true that Max summoned the military here?"

Lily lowered her head while biting her lip. Lily's grip on the edge of the bed tightened. Seeing Lily's expression, Ryan felt that he no longer needed to wait for the answer. Max invited the military to the laboratory.

"Then we have to get out of here," said Ryan.

"I didn't expect Max to stab me in the back like this. I even think of him as my uncle," said Lily.

Ryan rubbed Lily's back as he took a deep breath. "You'll get through this, Lily."

Lily took a deep breath and turned around. She suddenly hugged Ryan. "I don't know what to do now. I don't even know if this is real or just a dream."

"Calm down. I'll accompany you through all of this," Ryan said.

Ryan rubbed Lily's head. "By the way, where's Matthew? He followed you to see Max."

"I'm here," replied Matthew.

Ryan immediately turned in the direction of Matthew's voice. He sighed when he saw Matthew standing near the observation room door. Matthew then walked over to Lily and Ryan.

"We have to get out of here. We can hide in my family's villa," said Matthew.

Lily let go of Ryan's arms and turned to look at Matthew. "I don't think your family is aware of this mess."

Lily suddenly narrowed her eyes as she looked at the collar of Matthew's shirt. She came closer and held the red spot, then looked at Matthew. "Are you sucking Max's blood too?"

Matthew swallowed his saliva as he looked back at Lily. "Don't worry. I let him live."

Lily immediately pushed Matthew's body. "What are you doing? Why are you sucking his blood too?"

Matthew snorted after Lily pushed his body. "I have to do it. At least that gives me some time until we get the blood bag."

Lily frowned. "What do you mean to give you time? What do you feel?"

"We don't know yet what will happen if I don't drink the blood. We have a situation here, and I need my strength to get us out of here," Matthew replied.

Matthew was silent for a moment before continuing his words. He then looked back at Lily. "You should understand what I'm doing. I want to protect you and take you to a safe place. The military must want you right now. You are the one who can continue this research."

"I don't want to continue," Lily said.

"They won't care if you want it or not," said Matthew.

Matthew suddenly became alert as he turned towards the observation room door. He closed his eyes to feel what was approaching them. After confirming it, Matthew looked back at Lily and Ryan.

"We have to get out of here immediately. I think the militaries have come to this place," said Matthew.

Lily and Ryan looked at each other. They both nodded slowly. Ryan then held Lily's hand while looking at Matthew. "You go ahead. Lily and I will be behind you. We'll show the way out."

Matthew nodded his head. The three then took some tools that they could use to escape from the laboratory. After that, they immediately left the observation room.

Before leaving the observation room, Lily spoke to Matthew again. "This time, I will not forbid you to do what drives you inside. Use this opportunity to fulfill your needs."

Matthew stared at Lily for a moment with narrowed pupils and sharp teeth. He then turned around and walked in front of Lily and Ryan.
