Bab 23: Butterfly 5

Ryan's car finally stopped in front of a house with a white wooden fence. On the edge of the wall planted rose bushes with pink flower buds.

"Is this her house?" Ryan asked Lily before they got out of the car.

Lily nodded her head as she unbuckled her seatbelt. "Of course. Let's go!" She immediately got out of Ryan's car.

Ryan followed Lily down from the car. He was stunned when Lily suddenly reached out to him. He also welcomed Lily's outstretched hand, and they walked together towards Mrs. Thomas's house.

After Lily pressed the bell, it wasn't long before Mrs. Thomas went out to open the door for Lily and Ryan. Lily closed her eyes and took a deep breath.

After smelling that familiar scent, Lily opened her eyes again. She looked at Mrs. Thomas with a big smile. "Just from the smell, I can already imagine how delicious it is."

Mrs. Thomas smiled back at Lily. She hugs her. "Finally, you came. This house seems to miss you too, baby."

"Thank you, Mama," said Lily.

"Oh, I missed that call," said Mrs. Thomas while releasing his arms on Lily. She then turned to Ryan. "We meet again, handsome."

Ryan laughed softly in response to Mrs. Thomas. He then held out the bottle of wine he had brought to Mrs. Thomas. "I brought this. Hope it goes well with your meat pie."

Mrs. Thomas accepted the wine Ryan brought and looked at the wine label. She then smiled as she looked at Ryan. "Of course. This would be perfect for my meat pie. Come on in. You must be hungry."

The middle-aged woman stepped back slightly to make room for Lily and Ryan to enter her house. After Lily and Ryan entered the house, Mrs. Thomas immediately walked toward the dining room.

While following Mrs. Thomas, Ryan looked at the photos hanging on Mrs. Thomas's house walls. Suddenly he stopped in front of one of the photos and stared at it.

Lily, who was walking next to Ryan, also stopped her steps. She turned to Ryan. "What is it?"

"It's that you?" Ryan asked, pointing to a photo of a girl with glasses.

Lily immediately covered the photo.

"Get your hands off me," Ryan snapped.

Lily shook her head.

"Why? I want to see the girl in the photo," said Ryan.

"No need. The girl is now standing in front of you," said Lily. She pulled Ryan's hand again and immediately took him to the dining room.

"I didn't know you were wearing glasses," Ryan said.

"I don't need it anymore," Lily said.

Ryan nodded his head. "You're still beautiful even when you're wearing glasses."

"Stop teasing me."

"I'm not teasing you. I'm telling the truth."

Lily rolled her eyes and looked at Ryan. She then chuckled and looked back ahead.

"Wow! Look who's coming?" exclaimed Alona. She was already at the dining table as soon as she saw Lily and Ryan walking into the dining room together.

Lily frowned when she saw Alona. "When are you coming home?"

"You don't know it because you've been working with your father all day," answered Alona.

"So that's the reason why you ignored me today?" Ryan interrupted while looking at Lily.

"It's not like that," said Lily.

"He's just enjoying his job too much, Ryan," said Alona with a chuckle.

Mrs. Thomas, who finished preparing his homemade meat pie, immediately spoke to the three. "Never mind, the important thing is now that Lily and Ryan are here. And now it's time for us to enjoy my proud meat pie."

"Of course. I can't wait to enjoy it." Lily immediately sat down at the dining table. Likewise, Ryan immediately sat next to Lily.

Mrs. Thomas gave Lily a big chunk of his homemade meat pie topped with a vegetable salad.

"When Lily came, she forgot who her daughter was," protested Alona because her mother had missed her.

"You've had too many of my pies," said Mrs. Thomas.

"Soon, she will probably enter her name as Lily's guardian," continued Alona.

"I don't mind if that happens," Lily said with a low laugh.

Mrs. Thomas glanced at Lily with a glance. "I love you."

"Me too," said Lily.

Ryan, who saw the interaction between Mrs. Thomas and Lily, smiled. Lily looks very happy. This was seen in her sparkling eyes.

After everyone at the dinner table got a plate of homemade pies, Mrs. Thomas sat down in his chair. She looked at Alona, Lily, and Ryan with a smile. "Who will lead the prayer before eating?"

Lily and Alona glanced at each other. As if knowing they could read each other minds, the two immediately looked at Ryan. "Of course, the only man in this room," said Alona.

Ryan gasped and looked directly at Alona. He then shook his head. "I never pray."

Mrs. Thomas took a deep breath. "At least you can thank the universe for gathering us here today and enjoying my meat pie. We have to be grateful for it."

Lily nudged Ryan's arm. Then she whispered to him. "It has become a habit here."

Ryan looked at Lily with a small smile. He then nodded his head. Although he never prayed, he would do it this time in honor of Mrs. Thomas, who had already welcomed them into his house.

"Good," said Mrs. Thomas. She then cupped her hands in front of his chest and lowered her head.

Lily turned to Ryan and nodded slowly.

Ryan took a deep breath and started praying. "Thank you for the togetherness you have provided at this time and the delicious food we will be enjoying in a moment. Blessed be the beautiful woman who has prepared all this for us. Amen."

"Amen," said Mrs. Thomas, Lily, and Alona together.

Mrs. Thomas lifted her head again. She looked at Ryan with a small laugh. "I liked the prayer you just said. I think you should pray more often from now on."

"I'll consider it," Ryan said with a low laugh.

"I know you're getting impatient," said Mrs. Thomas.

Lily immediately answered. "The worms in my stomach have rebelled." She directly fed a large piece of meat pie into her mouth. Then she mumbled while enjoying Mrs. Thomas's meat pie, which tickled her tongue.

Ryan, who was trying Mrs. Thomas's meat Pie for the first time, couldn't hide his surprise. He shook his head while enjoying the pie and praised Mrs. Thomas.

Mrs. Thomas couldn't help but laugh at Ryan's expression on her homemade meat pie. "Eat first. You can praise me again later."

The four of them enjoyed their dinner while telling stories and joking with each other. Mrs. Thomas loudly told Ryan about Lily, whom she had known since she was a child, making Lily blush. At the same time, Ryan listened to her with great amazement.
