Natasha laid her back on her bed and sighed, she felt hurt, she felt betrayed, she was feeling so many things right now. She had thought that Pete would be on her side like he always had been, but it was clear that Lia had got to him first.
Natasha was seething, she was so angry, so very angry that her years-long friendship with Pete was ruined just like that, and all because of a woman she thought was her friend, but was actually her enemy this whole time.
She regretted ever setting them up on a date in the first place, if there was an action she took that she regretted with all her being it would be making Pete and Lia meet in the first place, because now, he had fallen in love her.
Which was very unfortunate because Natasha was sure that Lia didn't love him, she was not sure if Lia knew what love truly was in the first place; But as much as she hated this she knew that Pete was not stupid, no amount of love would blind him like this, if he was still with Lia it meant that he was convinced that she wasn't that bad.
Natasha groaned, to be honest she did not want to give that a single thought, all she wanted to do right now was curl up into a ball and cry again, but she doubted that would solve anything.
Why were things this hard for her? Why was she receiving blow after blow without a break? Why did she feel so much hurt and so much pain? She wanted to shun it all away, but it was proving to be too difficult to.
Natasha's raging thoughts were interrupted by the sound of knocking on her bedroom door, she remained laying on her bed as she scoffed, there was only one person at home at the moment who could be knocking and she didn't want to have to deal with him again.
"What do you want?!" she asked in an obviously displeased tone, she didn't care if she sounded so rude, maybe that would make him go away.
"Are you okay Natasha?" asked Dom his tone filled with concern, he did not know why but as he heard Natasha's voice, he felt as if she was sad, he could hear sadness in her tone.
"That's none of your business, what do you want?" she asked as Dom sighed, she was definitely not fine, she sounded tired and hurt among all things, he had thought that his apology would make things better, and it seemed like it did, which made him wonder if she was sad again because of something or someone else.
"I just wanted to tell you that I made you some eggs, it's in the kitchen" said Dom.
"I didn't ask you to make me anything" she replied in irritation.
"I know and I also know that you haven't eaten anything since yesterday afternoon, you need to eat something" said Dom.
"And since when did you become my doctor? I don't need you to worry about me, just leave" she replied in a very annoyed manner as Dom sighed, he was trying, but he also knew that trying won't make all their issues and problems go away, like everyone had been saying she needed time.
"Alright, I'm sorry if I offended you, look we leave for Grandfather's house in the next thirty minutes, it's best we leave earlier so we can get there early, the weekend traffic will be hard to sit through, so when you're ready to go tell me, I'll be waiting in the car" he said as he waited to hear a reply but none came, causing him to turn around and go his way.
Natasha sighed, a part of her had forgotten that they would be going to pick Joy up from her grandparent's house. Now she definitely could not stay in bed and cry some more, her face finally looked normal void of any tears and she didn't want Joy seeing her sad; that would only make her worry.
Natasha got off her bed and walked to her bedroom door but she made no attempt to open the door. First she put her ear close to the door and listened, she wanted to be sure that Dom was gone, seeing his face annoyed her honestly and she would rather avoid it for as long as she possibly could.
She waited for a few moments, making sure that no one could be outside her door before proceeding to unlock her door and she walked into the hallway, down the stairs and into the kitchen where as Dom said the eggs he had made for her were lying on a white plate neatly covered on the kitchen island.
Natasha looked at the eggs and walked past it and poured herself a glass of water leaning on the kitchen countertop as her eyes trailed to the plate of eggs again.
She would be lying if she said that she wasn't hungry, she was starting to feel really hungry, and she was honestly did not have the strength to make anything for herself, but she didn't want to make Dom feel so smug just because she ate something he prepared for her.
It was the equivalent of accepting that he was right and that he knew best, which he obviously didn't. It wasn't just about mere eggs it was about her pride, they weren't friends, not even as close as that, so accepting his gesture would make her seem weak.
As Natasha continued looking at the plate of eggs, her stubbornness slowly disappeared, she was hungry, no doubt about that, and spending close to an hour on the way and back would be too much.
Natasha scoffed, she walked to the eggs, uncovered it and ate the eggs, they didn't even taste that good, the eggs tasted bland, Dom was never a good cook, she knew that.
If Dom was to walk in here she had already made a plan to spit out his eggs immediately, she would not give him the sweet satisfaction of seeing her eat something that he prepared.
Natasha shook her head at herself, she was acting very childish at this point but she didn't really care. Just why did Alfred have to leave as well? It seemed like everyone was gone, the house was barren and empty.
Natasha frowned as she stopped shaking her head, the slight movement she made reminded her of the terrible headache she still had, and it was not nice at all.
Natasha turned around and searched through the cupboards looking for painkillers as she said something inaudible but it was clear that she was annoyed, she couldn't find the painkillers anywhere.
Someone had moved them, she was sure of it, and this headache was killing her.
Eventually Natasha gave up on finding the painkillers, she would just have to bear with it as she had before. As Natasha looked back at her eggs in the corner of her eyes she saw a little white container as she scoffed.
It was the painkillers, how could she not have seen that? Dom must have probably put them there for her, which was once again annoying, why did it seem like he was doing too much?
It was certainly too much, she didn't ask for him to become her caretaker, if he really wanted her to be fine he should just leave her alone.
Natasha didn't really care at this point, she needed relief from this splitting headache, she picked up the container, opened it and took two pills threw them in her mouth and washed it down with water.
Natasha's face contorted, she hated pills, they were so annoying, but she had no choice if she wanted to feel at least a little bit better.
Natasha quickly finished eating, she left her dirty dishes in the sink, she would wash them later, but right now she really wanted to see her daughter.
Natasha walked back up the stairs, cursing herself internally for not bringing her phone down with her in the first place.
She opened the door of her room, got her phone from her bed and wore her shoes as she closed her bedroom door and walked down the stairs, she was about to open the front door when her phone beeped as she had received a message.
Natasha paused and checked her text message, it was from Pete and it read:
"Everything will be okay Nat, I promise you, things will get better, and you know that you can always count on me too"
Natasha read his message as she sighed, Pete was just too nice and he didn't know just how important his words were to her. She had started to feel better once she had heard from him.
How could she think that something so menial like this would end their great friendship? They were better than that and she knew it, but it still didn't make her feel any better about Lia.
