Pete knew that he had to think of a way to get himself out of this mess, and fast.
"Hello, you didn't answer me" said Natasha as her voice kept on ringing in Pete's ears, he could not think straight right now.
"What are you doing here?" asked Pete as those were the only words that he could think of to ask right now, it was late, it was already 5pm, and everyone had already gone home, which was why he thought the coast was clear, and hence why he brought out his gun, no one was supposed to be here, and yet here Natasha was.
"Oh I had some extra credit to do in Mr. Tim's office, but he left a while ago" replied Natasha casually as Pete sighed, he should have double checked all the classes and offices, so that this would not have happened.
"You still haven't answered my question, why do you have a gun in your locker?" asked Natasha.
"It is forbidden to bring firearms to school, and I have to report you… except you tell me why you have it and we can keep this meeting between us" said Natasha as Pete looked at her as If she was crazy.
"Are you insane, you see that I have a gun and instead of being scared you are asking me questions?" asked Pete as Natasha just looked at him.
"I mean, I don't think that you would be crazy enough to shoot me in the hallway, even though nobody is here, the Janitors are still here, and if you kill me, you will have a lot of blood to clean up" said Natasha as Pete sighed, he really was dealing with a crazy teenage girl.
"Alright, that's it come on" said Pete as he held Natasha's arm gently and she followed after him as he walked to an empty classroom and he closed the door behind them. Pete knew that Natasha was right about one thing, the janitors were still here, and he didn't want to risk another person finding out about this while they were speaking in the hallway, he was already as compromised as it was.
"You are not even scared that I dragged you into an empty classroom?" asked Pete as he led go of Natasha's arm and he looked at her.
"Well once again, you didn't drag my forcefully, I followed you, and whether you kill me in the hallway of classroom, it still has the same result" said Natasha as Pete was sure that she was crazy.
"Are you crazy? Is that how you would reply a psychopath?" asked Pete because if her answer was yes, he was genuinely worries for her safety.
"Alright, let's be real, your gun isn't just a normal firearm that anyone can get their hands on, judging from the colour, shape and size" said Natasha as she pointed to the gun in his hand, she had seen it before, Michael had the exact same gun, which he let her touch only once.
"If you have that gun, it means that you have the skills and license for it, which either means you are some sort of secret agent, or you are a police officer, in any case, you won't hurt me because you aren't the bad guy, and that's why I am so calm" said Natasha as Pete looked at her in disbelief, she was smarter than she appeared to be, to think that he was such a bad police officer undercover.
"Alright, okay, I am office Peter Lawson" said Pete as he brought out his badge and he showed Natasha.
"Wow a real badge so cool, can I touch it?" asked Natasha in awe as Pete sighed and he threw her his badge as she caught it, she was in awe, a real police badge.
"Awesome" said Natasha as she smiled.
"How old are you Natasha?" asked Pete as he wanted to get something straight.
"I'm 15" replied Natasha.
"No wonder" said Pete to himself, he was dealing with a literal child right now, he never knew that fifteen year olds could be so annoying.
"And how old are you Peter?" asked Natasha.
"20" replied Peter.
"I knew it, you looked too old to be a teenager" said Natasha as she laughed and she threw him back his badge.
"Ha, ha, very funny" said Pete as he caught his badge.
"But wait, why are you here undercover? Did something happen?" asked Natasha as she looked at him when she realized how serious it was for a Police officer to have to come in undercover in her school.
"Miguel Henry, a criminal released on bail for petty theft did not take his warning seriously, as soon as he got out, he committed more crimes, and robbed a firearm store, we have been looking for him for the past three months, but he's flown under the radar, but that was until we got some intel that he got a job here, working as one of the janitors, how he got the job, we don't know" said Pete as he kept his voice low.
"I was sent here undercover to find him and arrest him" said Pete as he explained.
"So cool, like an action movie" said Natasha as she smiled.
"No, not cool, this is serious, dangerously serious" said Pete.
"Wait, so do the teachers know?" asked Natasha.
"No they don't, for sake of their own safety, we don't want them to be scared, it is best that they continue on with their lives, if we inform them and they behave suspiciously, they will tell Miguel off" said Pete.
"Only the principal knows, and he is cooperating well with us well" said Pete.
"Alright, so haven't you caught Miguel yet?" asked Natasha.
"No" said Pete.
"Why is it taking so long then? You know where the guy is already?" asked Natasha.
"It's easier to say that, but it's more difficult, I am trying to look for him while still not alerting him that we are onto him, I haven't been able to find him because he used a fake name to get this job, and there are many Janitors in the school that have a timetable of who shows up on which day" said Pete.
"I have been scouting out every evening, and still no sign of Miguel" said Pete.
"Alright I see" said Natasha.
"I can help you look for him" said Natasha as she smiled, she would be more than happy to help.
"Oh no way, that's out of the question you know too much already, and I urge you not to tell anybody what I said" said Pete.
"You don't have to worry, my lips are sealed" said Natasha as she smiled and Pete did not trust her at all.
"You know what, you have to get going now, come on out" said Pete as he opened the door and Natasha gasped.
"Oh my word, my dad must be so worried, I was supposed to meet him by now, but I was held up here with you" said Natasha as she gasped.
"Where are you going?" asked Pete as he sighed, he did not want anything bad happening to her, it was already getting late.
"I have to go to my dad's office, it's not too far from here" said Natasha.
"Come on, I'll take you there" said Pete.
"You will?" asked Natasha in surprise as Pete nodded.
"Thank you Peter, you really are a good cop" said Natasha as Pete scoffed at her.
…
"Dad, I'm so sorry I am late" said Natasha as she walked into her father's office as he just ended a call on his phone.
"Tasha, I was getting worried, it's already dark outside" said Larry as he looked at her.
"I know dad, and I am sorry, but I didn't walk over here alone, Peter, my new classmate, walked me over here" said Natasha as she smiled and she pointed to Pete who was behind her.
"Hello sir" said Pete as Larry smiled at him.
"Hello Peter, thank you for escorting my Tasha over here" said Larry as he smiled and Pete smiled.
"Dad, Pete and I are working on a project together" said Natasha as she smiled.
"That's nice dear, give me a moment, I need to go and get some important documents before we go" said Larry as he stood up.
"Alright dad, take your time" said Natasha as she smiled and Larry smiled at her as he walked out of the office and Natasha sat down at his desk as Pete was about to leave.
"Wait Peter" said Natasha as Pete turned to look at her.
"My offer still stands, let me help you catch Miguel" said Natasha as she smiled.
"Oh no way, not a chance, this is not come kind of game, it's official police business" said Pete as he could not imagine why this girl was still insisting.
"I know it is, and I can help you, for one, I am an actual student, I know the school like the back of my hand, I know where the janitors hang out during lunch, I am even friends with some of them, they can tell us where Miguel is" said Natasha as she smiled.
"Thank you for the information, and you mean, tell me, and not us, there is no us" said Pete.
"Come on Peter, I am your partner just like in the tv shows, we can catch Miguel together, there's no point pushing me away, I know everything" said Natasha as she smiled.
"No means no Natasha, this is not some kind of tv show, this is real life, I can't get a civilian involved in this, I will be in big trouble with my superiors" said Pete as he was already in trouble for letting Natasha catch with his gun and having to explain their entire operation to her.
"Your superiors don't have to know, it's just us, we catch Miguel and bam we put a bad guy in jail" said Natasha.
"You keep on saying we, there is no we, I am alone in this" said Pete.
"Don't insist anymore, or else" said Pete.
"Alright, well let me tell you that my dad is right down that hall, if I shout and call for him, he will rush over here asking me what is wrong, and when he does, I am going to tell him everything, everything about the operation and Miguel and your gun" said Natasha.
"And I know that you wouldn't want that, because it means one more person will know about your operation, and a parent concerned for the safety of his child can do A LOT, I tell you, one concerned parent, turns to hundreds of concerned parents, which would cause a revolt, and thus alerting Miguel that you are looking for him" said Natasha as she smiled.
"It would be a shame if that was to happen, and it would all be your fault for letting a 15 year old girl see you with your gun, what will your superiors say?" asked Natasha as she played with her father's pen on the desk.
"Are you threatening me?" asked Pete as he could not believe this right now, she was threatening him, she was being so manipulative, she was not as innocent as she looked.
"What do you think?" asked Natasha as she smiled sweetly at him.
"I don't blame you, I blame my idiotic self for allowing himself to be blackmailed by a little girl" said Pete as he sighed.
"Hey, I'm not little, I'm 15, just 5 years younger than you, and also, I'm not as careless as I look" said Natasha as she smiled and she played with a loose strand of her hair.
"I can see that" said Pete as he was sure that she had red hair because she was as dubious as the devil.
"I have nothing to lose here, but you do, the trust of your superiors and all, we can avoid all this mess if you just let me help you" said Natasha as she smiled.
"Good Lord, who taught you how to blackmail?" asked Pete.
"My Grandfather, in business, you have to get what you want, you need to get into the head of your opponent" said Natasha as she smiled.
"So what do you say partner? Deal or no deal?" asked Natasha as she smiled.
"If you don't keep your word, you are dead" said Pete as he sighed.
"That's all I needed to hear, come to my house tomorrow after school so we can catch Miguel, so bye no, before my dad comes back and sees your face" said Natasha as she smiled.
"You are insane" said Pete.
"I don't get that a lot but fine, see you tomorrow Peter, have a good night's rest" said Natasha as she smiled and she waved at him.
"I won't get any rest with you involved" said Pete as he sighed and he walked away as Natasha giggled, this was going to be fun, she was involved in a real police operation.
