"Mommy, I'm back" said Lia as she giggled and she walked into the room on the right as she walked to see a brown-haired woman who turned to look at her.
"Where did you go Cecilia?" asked Alyssa as she looked at her daughter.
"I went to play with Dom and the others" said Lia as she smiled.
"Cecilia, don't scare me like that, I told you to always tell me where it is that you are going, even if you are only going next door" said Alyssa as she lightly scolded her daughter.
"You can't just leave the house anytime you want to Cecilia, if not for Mary calling me and telling me that you were over at her house, I would not know where to start looking for you" said Alyssa as she shook her head.
"But I told daddy, mommy, and he said that I could go anywhere that I wanted to, as long as it was only to the park, and to Dom's house" said Lia as she had no ounce of remorse at all, and that made Alyssa sigh as she took a deep breath, her husband would not kill her by indulging their daughter like this.
"Even if you tell him sweetie, always tell me as well, just so I can be sure, and so I don't worry, okay?" asked Alyssa.
"Okay mommy" said Lia as she nodded her head.
"Better" said Alyssa as she walked to carry Lia.
"Mommy, what's for dinner?" asked Lia.
"Grandmother made a peach cobbler for us didn't she?" asked Lia.
"Well yes she did Cecilia, but it's not for you, at least not tonight, your father is having some potential business partners over for dinner tonight, and you have to be on your best behaviour aright?" asked Alyssa.
"I am always on my best behaviour mommy" said Lia.
"Cecilia I am serious with you, no tantrums tonight, no being mean, ne being disrespectful, alright?" asked Alyssa as she looked very serious as she gave Lia a very stern warning.
"Okay mommy, I promise" said Lia as she smiled.
"Good" said Alyssa as she smiled and she gave her daughter a kiss on the cheek, she knew that her daughter was not that bad, she just needed a bit more discipline, a firm hand, if only her husband would think so as well and stop spoiling her the way he did.
In that same moment the sound of the door being opened from another room could be heard as Lia heard footsteps, and she immediately knew who it was as she struggled to get down from her mother's embrace as Alyssa put Lia down and she sighed, here they went again.
"Daddy!!" said Lia with sparks in her eyes as she ran to the door and she stopped when she saw a short man standing in front of the door.
"My Cecilia, how is daddy's little girl doing today?" asked Cecil as he smiled and he carried Lia.
"I am good daddy, very good" said Lia as she giggled.
"That's good my princess" said Cecil as he smiled.
"So how was your day?" asked Cecil.
"Good daddy, I played with Dom and the others today, and even with that new girl Natasha, I don't like her" said Lia.
"Cecilia!" called Alyssa as Lia turned to look at her mother.
"Yes Mommy" said Lia as she looked as innocent as ever.
"Cecilia, it's not good for you to say that you don't like someone, and out loud like that, it's very rude and disrespectful" said Alyssa.
"Oh leave her be Alyssa, she is only expressing herself, I am not raising her to be afraid of voicing out her opinions" said Cecil as he smiled and he pinched Lia's cheeks as she giggled.
"Cecil, do not give me that nonsense, you are only teaching her the wrong things" said Alyssa.
"But what do I expect when she obviously learns such bad habits from you" said Alyssa as she sighed and she shook her head.
"Don't listen to your mother princess, you are free to say whatever you want, it is only your right as a human being, and as my daughter, you should never allow anyone to trample over you, no matter what, always show that you know who you are, and your worth, alright my princess?" asked Cecil as he smiled.
"Alright daddy" said Lia as she giggled and she nodded her head.
"Good my Cecilia, my love, my one and only daughter" said Cecil as he smiled and he praised Cecilia as she liked to be praised by him.
Alyssa just sighed as she shook her head, this was what she was dealing with, she was trying to instil good, nice values into their daughter, and yet her husband comes along, filling her head with wrong ideas, he indulged Lia too much, just too much, and he did not seem to realize it.
"So why don't you like that Natasha girl princess?" asked Cecil as he smiled.
"Well she is just too much, to happy, and everyone always pays attention to her, and not to me" said Lia.
"Cecilia, you need to learn that not everything is about you, other people deserve the spotlight too sometimes" said Alyssa.
"But that's not fair, Daddy says that I need to know my worth, and people have to notice me, right daddy?" asked Lia as she looked at Cecil.
"Right my Cecilia" said Cecil as he smiled and he nodded his head.
"See" said Lia as she turned to look at her mother.
"But princess, you do have to know that there is such a thing as bad spotlight" said Cecil.
"What do you mean by bad spotlight daddy?" asked Lia as she looked at her father.
"Well you never know why someone gets the spotlight, there are many different kinds of spotlights, a spotlight of shame, of disgust, of anger, of happiness, or of pity" said Cecil.
"So you have to take into consideration which type of spotlight people give to others, maybe it is just out of pity" said Cecil.
"Oooh I see daddy, so you mean that they don't really like Natasha, and they are just being nice to her?" asked Lia.
"Exactly my dear, you never know" said Cecil as Lia nodded her head.
"Cecilia, it is also good to know that if you are nice to people, then they will also be nice to you" said Alyssa.
"If you are not nice to other people, how do you expect to make other friends?" asked Alyssa as she did not want to have an argument with Cecil right here in front of Lia, but she could not stand it, she could not stand his poor beliefs and all.
"Hmmm" said Lia as she seemed to be weighing her mother's words.
"Be nice dear, that is the only way that you will make new friends, that will like you" said Alyssa.
"Okay Mommy" said Lia as she smiled and she nodded her head, she did like people to like her, she was someone very likable.
"Yes my dear, why don't you try being nicer to Natasha? Then maybe everyone will play with you again" said Alyssa.
"People won't play with you if you are not nice to play with my dear" said Alyssa as she explained.
"Okay Mommy, I hear you, I will be nice" said Lia.
"Good my dear, that's better" said Alyssa as she smiled.
"Now Cecilia, it's almost time for dinner, go wash your hands, and clean yourself up, okay?" asked Alyssa as she smiled.
"Okay Mommy" said Lia with a smile as she nudged her father to let go of her, which he did, and he let her down as she walked out of the room with giggles.
"Do not contradict me like that in front of our daughter" said Cecil as he looked at Alyssa in anger.
"Do not do or say things that will need me to contradict you Cecil" said Alyssa as she replied.
"How can I not contradict you, when you are spoiling her so much Cecil?" asked Alyssa.
"She is my daughter, if I don't spoil her, then who will?" asked Cecil.
"You do not need to spoil her, you will not be doing her any good Cecil" said Alyssa as she really wanted him to see her point of view, but no, he was always so stubborn, always.
"You cannot tell me what I can, and cannot do with my own daughter" said Cecil.
"Just because you were raised to be a poor, no social life, quiet, refrained woman, does not mean that my daughter will be raised in the same way" said Cecil as Alyssa could not believe what she was hearing from him right now.
"Really Cecil?? Really you say that to me?" asked Alyssa.
"Well for your information, you married this poor, no social life, quiet, refrained woman, and she is also the mother of your child" said Alyssa.
"Yes I married you, because I can control you" said Cecil as he smiled and Alyssa felt like her heart was breaking, but why should it matter, she knew how he was.
"Don't you dare, ever contradict me in front of Cecilia, again, or else, you will know your place" said Cecil.
"I have money, and I am going to make sure that my daughter never suffers, she will have anything, and everything she wants, and not you, or anyone can change that" said Cecil.
"Is this the kind of father you want to be… what kind of example will you be setting for Cecilia, if you do things like this, and threaten her mother" said Alyssa.
"You know that I will never lay a finger on you, I am not that barbaric, but I do have other ways to put you in your place" said Cecil as Alyssa felt like hitting him right now.
"Enough of this talk" said Cecil as he walked closer to Alyssa.
"We are having guests over" said Cecil as he raised up Alyssa's head by holding her chin as she grunted.
"Wipe that frown off your beautiful face my wife, frowning doesn't suit you, look pretty" said Cecil as he laughed and he let go of Alyssa's face as he walked away.
Alyssa sighed as she shook her head, it was her fault, she knew better than to provoke him, especially in front of Cecilia.
Alyssa just sighed as she walked out of the room to set the dinner table quickly.
