The healer's home was one of the few houses in the village that was built from baked bricks. It had a big garden that boasted of several medicinal plants growing in healthy clumps.
The man escorting Ji-ho knocked on the door and it was opened by Renee. The apprentice looked none too happy to see Arabella at the door.
"Why is she here?" Renee asked the man even as she gave Ji-ho an unfriendly look.
"Master Borm asked for her."
Ji-ho smiled at the apprentice, further needling the young woman.
Renee just couldn't stand the smug smile that Arabella was wearing. "Don't let it get to your head," she told the girl. "Just because you managed to finish the job I started on Walter, it doesn't mean you're better than I am. For all we know, it was my medicine that cured him."
Ji-ho ate up the envy that came her way. After the way she was treated by Renee, it was satisfying to Lord over her this way.
