Sun Young-mi's presence at the party as Seung-ho's date became known to the public on that very night itself. When Ji-ho got home and checked the news, she wasn't very surprised to find herself trending again.
# Seung-mi not Seung-bi gained traction among her ecstatic fans. The wave of support was drowned by disappointed Seung-ho fans who were either shipping him with Dan-bi or hoping he remained single.
~ I'M GOING FERAL!! YOUNG-MI AND SEUNG-HO?! ARE WE IN A SIMULATION?!
~ How did this happen?! Someone, please write an essay for this confused spectator!
~ But.. But ლ(¯ロ¯"ლ)
~ 2 + 2 = 5
~ I'm just here to remind you kids that her biggest fan and donator on B-tube is called Seung-ho. Hmmmmmmmmmmm?!!! We've been bamboozled. If it's really the Seung-ho who has been sugar daddying Sun Young-mi then their relationship goes back who knows how long into the past. I'm just overwhelmed. Don't @ me.
~ idiots! This is a publicity stunt for both of them. And see how effective it is????
~ Wait.. So if it's true that they've been together for a while, why didn't Sun Young-mi just use his reputation to boost hers?
Ji-ho was drawn into reading the endless comments when an alarm on her phone began to ring. With the cheerful birthday tune of the alarm, a short text appeared in colorful font. It was a message that the original Sun Young-mi left for herself.
'Happy Birthday to me <3 Sun Young-mi, cheer up! So what if they don't remember your birthday again? Here's me in the past sending my love to you. Fighting!'
It was her birthday already, the day that the original Sun Young-mi had passed away.
"Young-mi, happy birthday," Ji-ho said to the air as if expecting the ghost to hear and acknowledge her heartfelt wish. Feeling a bit down from thinking about the original person who died so tragically, Ji-ho decided to eat a cupcake because that was all she had which came close to a cake.
When she returned from the fridge, bearing a cupcake frosted with cream cheese, there were several messages on her phone.
Seung-ho: Happy Birthday, Young-mi.
Aera: Young-mi, darling, can I call you if you're not asleep? If you're seeing this in the morning, I just wanted to wish you a happy 18th birthday! Expect a present from me. <3
Lee Tae-Hyun: Happy Birthday to a very special girl :)
Ji-ho smiled at the messages on her phone and said out loud - "See these messages, Young-mi. This year you received birthday wishes from Seung-ho, Aera, and Tae-Hyun. So what if your so-called friends never wished you? They were never your friends anyway-"
Her conversation with herself was interrupted by the sound of her doorbell ringing. Who the hell was visiting her this late at night? She wondered.
Ji-ho then looked through the peephole on her door and was surprised but also not very surprised to see none other than Blue standing in front of her door with a bouquet of flowers.
"Nope," she declared and walked away. That door was going to remain closed.
When the doorbell rang again, Ji-ho dialled Aera's number. Her friend picked it up on the second ring.
"Happy Birthday!"
"Thank you, Aera. I'm a bit troubled right now so I called. Blue is standing at my door and ringing the doorbell."
"What? Why? Is he stalking you again?!"
"I guess."
The doorbell went off again and again. Even Aera could hear it through the call.
"I'm calling the police," Ji-ho told Aera when she could no longer tolerate the constant bing bing of her doorbell.
"Okay, Young-mi. Call the police but also- don't open the door. He sounds like such a psychopath! I'm telling Seung-ho about this!"
"No- no! There's no need to bother him," Ji-ho responded. "I'll call the police and it'll be fine."
"Are you sure?"
"Positive. I'll talk to you later, Aera."
Ji-ho hung up the phone and dialled law and enforcement. She made a report about a stranger harassing her and was told that an officer would be sent to her address. After getting that done, Ji-ho turned off the light in the living room. She hoped that if he tried to peep into the hole, he would see darkness and believe that she was asleep.
Despite ignoring him for longer than five minutes, the doorbell kept going off again and again. Ji-ho paced the room, hoping the annoying sound would just stop. And it did. The sudden silence unnerved her just as much as the noises had. And like some scene out of a horror movie, Ji-ho heard the sound of her door opening.
The young woman froze where she was standing. Her heart leapt to her throat and she suddenly began fearing for her life. Footsteps, soft unhurried footsteps on her wooden floor sent a wave of shock through her. The man inside her apartment was walking towards the kitchen where Ji-ho was standing. This forced her to snap out of her stupor and grab a knife from the shelf.
___
When Blue reached the kitchen's entranceway, he saw Sun Young-mi sitting at the dining table and waiting for him.
"Happy birthday, my love."
Ji-ho tightly gripped the knife she was holding under the table. She took in the sight of the large coat he was wearing, imagining the weapons he could be hiding in his pockets. This wasn't like that night when he had impulsively followed her away from the party. His actions today were heavily premeditated and she was in real danger if he had a weapon on him.
"Why did you have to break into my apartment?" She coldly asked him.
"You wouldn't let me in. That's why. Is it because you've found someone else?" He asked with a deep frown. "Are you dating Seung-ho? Did you sleep with him?"
Ji-ho was shocked at the hatred she saw on his face.
"You're insane! Get out of my apartment and I won't have to call the police."
Blue let out a harsh laugh and tossed the bouquet onto the table.
"The police won't do shit when they see it's me. Did you forget who I am just because you got a chance to shack it up with that man?"
Ji-ho was overcome with an intense urge to stab him a few times.
"Sun Young-mi, leave Seung-ho," he said in a cajoling tone. "Just forget about him and I'll forgive you."
Ji-ho's fear was replaced by anger when he said that. How dare he break into her apartment and talk about forgiving her after all the pain he had put Sun Young-mi through.
"Forgiveness?" She said with unconcealed contempt. "You should be begging for mine! You left me for Iris," Ji-ho hissed. "You are the reason my pics were leaked. So don't you dare talk about forgiveness if it isn't in the context of you on your knees begging for my forgiveness."
"Will you leave him if I accept my wrongs and plead with you, Young-mi?" He softened up.
"Let's discuss this in the morning like civil people," she told him. "Leave my apartment. Walk away and I'll have this conversation with you when-"
"No. I want you to give me your answer now, Young-mi."
At that moment, Ji-ho saw a lone policeman checking out the scene in front of him.
