Bab 19: SECOND APPOINTMENT

1 week. That is all of the time that I have left with Zarah until I go back to college and she goes back to school. I never thought that it would be so painful to leave her. Then again I also never thought that I would be in this position. Having a kid so early in my life. We have been waiting in the back room for about 5 minutes. Where is that doctor at? A small knock at the door catches my attention as it begins to open.
"Hey, and how are we doing today?"
"Pretty good, I guess."
"Well that doesn't sound very confident."
"A lot has happened since the last time that we were here," I interrupted.
Gizelle glares at me just like she did the first time. She definitely makes me feel nervous around her.
"So are you ready?"
Z nods her head yes and then Gizelle gets everything set up to start the ultrasound. By now Z is about 6 weeks along and will be 7 week along by the time I have to leave. We haven't talked about how this is going to work. The estimated time is about 9 months or 40 weeks. There is no guarantee that I will be able to make it back by then or if it will fall during a time when my college has a break. But thats also not including if the baby decides to make an appearance early.
"And there they are."
I look up at the screen and see the still pretty small dot in the screen. I can't help but smile. None of this was what I planned for my life but I also couldn't be happier right now. College is going well, my family is healthy, I have a kid on the way with Z. I'm not sure exactly how I feel but I have to figure it out soon. Or at least by the time the baby gets here. Gizelle moves her hand up to the back of the screen and switches something off. The entire screen goes black.
"Well, it looks like the baby is healthy. What about you mom?"
"I'm ok but is it normal for me to feel so sick?"
"Yes it is," she says with a chuckle. "It's called morning sickness. Now is most cases it only last the first trimester and may be cut shorter than that but there is also a chance it could last throughout the pregnancy or come back every now and then."
I never knew that Z had morning sickness. I thought that everything was completely fine.
"I will go get all of the paperwork so that you two can get checked out."
Z nods her head and begins to use the towel next to her to wipe off her stomach.
"Hey, how about we go get some lunch after this? Anything you have the taste for?"
"Ooo, can we go get Mexican food at that place by your house?"
"Yeah we most certainly can."
I smile at her and she smiles back. Since our relationship used to be so strained but is getting better, we have to talk about what we are going to do when I have to leave.
