Vincenzo's POV
It was the second day of Maria's abduction, and we were still none the wiser. I was tired of fooling Zia and finally fessed up to her. I did plead that she kept it away from Marco, though. I knew it was exactly what Maria wanted. After the strange call from my mother at night 9f Maria's abduction, she had not called again. The rendezvous with Matteo and Alcatara did not materialize much. The email Matteo's guy sent was still very vague. However, he did say we would be hearing from him very soon. Priscilla was also still out of touch. I was beginning to believe that she also had a hand in this.
Matteo came out of the kitchen with a plate in his hands. Ever resourceful, he had decided to make some food. I wasn't so sure I had an appetite to eat. The pain I was feeling not only took me by surprise but had me questioning many things. He set the plate on a stool and dragged it to me while he sat on the ground by my side.
