Bab 130: The Threat (Part 3)

After Morena and Ursula had descended the stairs, it was Maria's turn. She waited a bit to see if Marco would join her, but he wasn't even close to coming. Smiling bravely, she decided to walk down on her own. 

Conversations had ceased around the room at her appearance. Asides from the gasps at what she had since come to realize were her beauty which the lovely dress did very well to showcase, there was also awe in their eyes. She couldn't quite recognize half of the people in the room whose eyes shone with recognition. 

It was not a secret she looked like her mother. It was probably why they were all staring so shockingly at her. They had remembered Gisela and now she was the daughter with a striking resemblance. For others though, it was a privilege to see the daughter of the famous duchess.
