“So, this is the mortal I am assigned to watch over.” He finally spoke. Obvious disinterest was evident in the cold tenor of his voice. And even with the slight scowl flashing across his face, Zary still felt the effect of his voice down her spine.

“Yes, my lord. This is Zarina and –” Killian acknowledged and started the introductions but was quickly cut off.

“I don’t see anything special about this mortal that she should warrant the highest privilege to be guarded by a prince of my caliber.” He stated with disdain and impatience, turning his nose up at Zary.

Zary caught her lower lip between her teeth. Frustration quickly clawed within her. H-how could he look at her and talk to her like she was some lowly lifeform?! She never thought this was how he would treat her if his memories about her were gone!
