Rae Bennett was woken up early in the morning by the sound of "firecrackers," which were actually balloons used by some residents to mimic firecrackers, since they were banned in the city. The Residential Area was bustling with pop and crackle.

Rae reached for her phone, glanced at it, and saw it wasn't even seven o'clock. She opened Whatsapp and sent a message to Wyatt Wright.

Rae:[Happy New Year]

The heater was on in the room, so it wasn't cold. Clutching her phone, Rae sat up in bed waiting for Wyatt to reply.

Soon enough, Wyatt called her.

No sooner had she put the phone to her ear, Rae heard Wyatt's voice.

"Rae."

Wyatt said, "Come and open the door for me."

Rae was stunned for a few seconds, then kicked off the covers, "Give me two minutes!"
