In the Shadows, Rowan held onto the back of Lysander's arm while Lysander cradled Nicasi's limp body against his chest. Ozul was right behind them, easing the transition from one world to the next without having to touch anyone.
Even with Ozul being weakened as he was, his mere presence made Rowan feel like traveling between the worlds while utterly exhausted and drained of energy was easier than walking on solid ground in his own reality on the best of days.
As the Orderly realm receded from his senses, Rowan cast his thoughts out in search of Sonia and their unknown destination, allowing his feet to determine the correct path as usual.
Abruptly Lysander stopped walking, causing the outline of the reality behind the veil of the Shadows to waver between one shape and the next, like a murky image from a dream that refused reveal itself upon waking.
I do love when Rowan gets tough when standing up for the people who are important to him, and Beren really needed to hear that. Also, I love the idea of making Nicasi and Wren admit out loud how much they care about each other. Now we just need to make sure it happens.
