After letting Mara talk to her heart's content, Rowan turned her loose in his garden, asking her to practice using her magic to take care of his flowers as a distraction. He even told her she could try growing some of her own if she wanted.
She didn't have his abilities, but who was to say she wouldn't be able to discover her own path to working with Death if that's what she really felt called to do. Maybe he would even ask Yamm if he had any thoughts on the matter.
In the meantime, his garden was full of all sorts of energy. He decided to see if she could pick out any strands to work with by instinct.
Not too long ago, Alaric would have forbidden it as contrary to the teaching of the Order. Now he just watched her run off, an eager smile on her face.
When they were alone on the patio, Wren and Alaric took turns glancing at each other over the Caissa board, which was on the table between them from when Rowan and Wren were playing earlier.
