"Wren…you don't need to do this. We are all on the same side. Let me help you." Nicasi aimed his words across the distorted space of the illusion that had pushed everything that belonged there, including the adepts, to the perimeter of a circle with Rowan and Wren at the center.
He knew that even though the distance between them was excessive in a very Wren-like way, there was no need to shout. It was Wren's distance, filled by Wren's magic. If he wanted to hear him, he would hear him.
Instead Nicasi simply spoke calmly, hoping to get through to the person he now considered a friend, excess and all.
Besides, he'd felt the effects of Wren's magic enough while being dragged around whenever the man wanted help but wouldn't admit to it to be able to tell that Wren wasn't making the illusion as strong as he usually would. It wasn't meant to hurt them, only to keep them away.
What do you think of Mallin? You know I'm always wishing for group hugs, but it might be a bit premature here.
