At his sister's casual mention of Alaric killing a creature, Rowan's vision snapped fully away from where he observed the lambent-soft shapes of the shadows under the awning. A chill crept over the bare skin of his forearms. "What do you mean? When? Why am I just now hearing about it?"
Loma raised her hands as if to calm him, and only then did Rowan realize he had half-risen from his seat. He let out a tense breath and sat back down.
His gaze flicked briefly over the space beneath the awning again. Now the shadows seemed to be nothing more than an ordinary play of light and dark, but he couldn't shake the feeling that someone was watching them even though he couldn't sense anything remiss.
"He went to look for my…our father, and a creature attacked him. He didn't know how dangerous it could be to leave the poison there at the time," Loma said.
I do love Ozul. I'm not sure Alaric will feel the same way. Also...Rowan better think twice about using his magic yet again. Something tells me Wren might not be so forgiving this time...I wonder what that will look like.
