As the dust continued to clear Wrex's form became more visible he was leaning on his broadsword breathing heavily. Everyone was in shock that he was still standing after such a powerful attack. He struggled as he lifted his hand at Mete and grinned giving a thumbs up as he lost consciousness and collapsed onto the ground.
A roaring cheer from everyone was released as Raia and Lisa ran over to Wrex and began administering first aid and healing spells. After the duel had declared Mete the winner, his health was returned to full and he struggled to stand up after regaining consciousness and returned his sword to his inventory and approached Mete and extended his hand, the two smiled at each other and shook hands.
"Next time, you won't get the chance to give me those curses!" Wrex joked.
"Next time, I'll give you even more!" Mete retorted back. A small rivalry had been born between the two.
"Once again, everyone give a massive round of applause for our contestants for that explosive fight!" Marcus shouted and was met with loud cheering and clapping from everyone. After the intense fight between Wrex and Mete, the following fight was a fairly straightforward match between a Knight and an Archer. Unfortunately, the Archer couldn't overpower the Knight and was eliminated.
The first semi-finals was locked into place, the Warlock Mete versus a Knight. Syrenis was looking very interested in the next fight as she had not fought against another Thief yet and as Marcus called both of their names into the ring, she was excited to see what types of tricks they had up their sleeves.
Syrenis pulled out her two daggers as the Thief did the same. As the duel began, both began charging towards each other. Both were high agility characters and they were constantly parrying attacks and dodging each lethal strike that came their way.
Syrenis went to use [Venomous Splash] as her mouth filled with the acidic poison and sprayed it out in front of her. The Thief had been prepared and deftly avoided out of it's conal range and spun his daggers in a circle around him as a vibrant green liquid coated the tip of each blade as he had used his skill [Envenom] to coat his weapons in a poison of his own.
Syrenis grinned knowing the secret to her race and not even thinking twice about the next to useless poison her opponent was attempting to wield. She had mastery over poison and was next to immune to it.
The Thief charged in with both arms trailing behind him as he held the daggers in reverse. Syrenis did a one-handed cartwheel backwards avoiding the slashes from the Thief as she parried with a dagger of her own and as the Thief attempted to attack an opening she left, he smacked his wrist forcefully with her tail disarming one of his weapons.
As he made a rookie mistake the dagger went sliding across the sparring grounds and he foolishly took his eyes off his opponent and looked to where the weapon was lying. In this moment Syrenis followed up with another skill [Triple Stab] as she quickly jabbed him with her two daggers threefold in a blinding speed. He reeled backwards stumbling a few steps as she followed up with [Vanishing Strike] and appeared behind him. He tried to roll forward to avoid the attack, but it was too late and he had lost the duel right there.
Syrenis showed sportsmanship as she helped the Thief up and remarked on how fast he was with his skills but he dismissed it being slower than she was. As the last match of the quarterfinals, everyone was hyped up to see if Ishani had any additional tricks up her sleeves as her and the Knight entered the ring.
"Now for the last match of the Quarterfinals.... Ishani!!!!!!" Marcus yelled and the crowd went crazy once more, everyone was assuming it was going to be Ishani to take the entire thing at this point. "Not to be outdone, we have a Knight who has defied all odds and made it through many strong opponents, can he dethrone the incredibly overpowered Elemental Wizard? Let's find out!!"
As the match began, Ishani started by firing off a barrage of the 4 basic bolt spells from the schools she had already shown off. Each attack was mostly negated as the Knight couldn't afford to lower his shield as he slowly approached her.
As he had gotten close, she had fired off [Gale] sending the cyclone crashing against the Knight as he tried to hold his ground but was forced back a few meters by the strong wind currents. He couldn't even get close and had already lost 10% of his health, this was not looking good for him.
As he had finally stopped being forced back, she fired off a spell she had yet to unveil, [Aqua Bubble] as a massive ball of water was lobbed at the the Knight, he easily blocked it as it burst against the shield covering him in water. The crowd went crazy, a 5th school! Everyone was chanting her name in unison once more, could she have access to every element? They all began to wonder as they shouted her name over and over.
Ishani chuckled as she followed up with another spell [Icy Wave] which sent a subzero temperature gust of wind through the sparring grounds instantly freezing all the water covering the Knight and encasing him in a thin layer of durable ice. If the crowd didn't know about elemental interactions, they did now, as each element can have devastating or negligible interactions when used in conjunction with one another.
She had known that water and ice worked in conjunction like this, and was about to use another as she fired off her strongest spell [Ignition Flame Bullet] as the small fireball shot towards the Knight and as it exploded, the ice surrounding him shattered causing double damage taking him out. Once again showing the sportsmanship that Marcus was wanting she offered her hand and assisted the Knight up congratulating him in their fight and he smiled and returned the compliment.
"And with that ladies and gentlemen, the Semi-Finals are locked in!!!! After this short break things will heat up as we are getting into the home stretch!!" Marcus yelled. Everyone cheered as if the finals had been locked in and everyone was expecting it to be Mete vs Ishani. This was going to be one heated finals, everyone couldn't wait to witness all these powerful rookies going head to head against each other.
As the four semi-finalists separated themselves from the group to recuperate, Marcus asked Raia to bring over Wrex. She nodded and ran off to talk with him. After a short wait, the two were walking over as they were speaking with each other.
"You wanted to speak with me Guild Master?" Wrex asked. Marcus nodded as the two spoke in quiet during the remaining time of the intermission. Wrex stood next to Raia and Lisa as Marcus gathered everyone's attention and the semifinals began. It really wasn't a competition between Mete and the Knight and everyone was roaring when Mete took him out in style. It was the next big ticket match, Syrenis versus Ishani.
Both were feeling the anxiety as their nerves were flaring high. Both had peformed spectacular skills and Ishani knew that Syrenis wouldn't be like the previous thieves she had taken out and would need to be careful. She was fast and it was next to impossible for Elemental Wizards to cast spells while moving at lower Tiers, it broke their concentration to a high degree.
Meanwhile, Syrenis knew that her high offense, low defense build would not save her from being touched by this mage, one shot and she could quite possibly lose. Tensions were building between the two as the fight officially started.
Syrenis immediately used [Stealth] and disappeared and Ishani began looking around, she quickly casted [Earth Blast] which caused the earth to blast out in front of her but nothing happened. She quickly changed her position and did it multiple times to no avail.
Out of her peripherals Syrenis had decloaked and shot out her [Venomous Splash] hitting her in the side dealing significant damage and causing the poison to deal continuous damage. She quickly fired off with a [Gale] sending Syrenis flying backwards as her health dropped down to a little over halfway from the weak spell.
Ishani grinned seeing how much damage one of her weakest spells did and immediately fired off a barrage of spells from the different schools, [Earth Bolt], [Water Bolt], [Ice Bolt], [Fire Bolt], [Wind Bolt] she was doing them in this order to create synergy chains but the spells could not land against the agile footwork of the Lizardman Thief.
Ishani was panting as she was burning through her mana and her health was slowly depleting, it seemed that the Thief was not planning on continuing to engage and wanted to let her collapse from the poison. Time to fire off something she can't dodge....
