Bastian had come with Cole. The two of them had come alone from the mage’s compound to me, and I found myself unable to pull away from the two of them as I realized just who it was Ruan had let in through the doors.

They weren’t as tall as Rhett and Hayden, and so hugging them came at an easier cost than when I hugged the twins, still, I had to stand on the tips of my toes to pull both of the boys towards me and they wrapped their arms around my back as they hugged me back.

It had been so long since the three of us were together, and it felt like a piece of me slid right into place with having the two of them back here in front of me again. I never could have expected something like this, or even conjured up a future where not only were the three of us back together again, but under these circumstances.
