Bab 52: Control room

"How many?" Rody asked, standing in the dark passage of the B block back exit.

"I spotted four," Joseph replied as he walked back after scouting the mound from the corner of the building. "There should be at least two more. But I don't see them anymore."

"Could they be hiding?" Rody asked.

"Could be…" Joseph replied, "Assuming they're smart enough to think like that."

"They're smart alright." Jai replied from behind, "I've seen them communicate with each other. It's like there's a part of them that's still human."

"No, there isn't." Joseph said definitively, "They're monsters. They stopped being human the moment they started trying to eat us alive."

"You said there's four of them?" Samantha asked in a shaky voice, "How are we going to get through alive?"

"We sneak past." Joseph said, "It is stupidity trying to fight them at night. I can't take them all on at once and I don't think I can rely of any of you to help."
