Having obtained assurances from Henry Russell, Charlotte felt relieved and smiled.
Henry voluntarily communicated with the police and managed to reduce Tarik's sentence. Although it wasn't a significant reduction, it was much better than the original sentence.
"Sis, thank you," Tarik said sincerely.
Now, he knew who truly cared about him. Thinking back to all the kindness he had received from Charlotte, he felt guilty about his behavior towards her.
He had never thought to ask Charlotte to plead for him, yet she did so willingly. This only intensified his feelings of guilt.
He vowed to treat Charlotte better in the future.
"Silly, there's no need to thank me. You were just being used. All that matters is that you recognize your mistake," Charlotte said gently with a smile.
When she learnt that Tarik had set her up, she was shocked and upset, but she quickly recovered.
