"I just miss him so much and... I don't think he had any intention of forgiving me, Bec. Otherwise, don't you think he would have forgiven me, by now?" Amani asked looking expectantly into Becca's eyes like her friend had the power to see and tell her what was on Leonardo's mind

Even though Becca knew Amani was right, she had no intention of letting her know that. Not at that particular moment when their emotions were high anyway. She knew confirming the truth of Amani's words about Leonardo at that very moment would make Amani feel more emotional about the situation, that was why she would rather lie so her friend would feel good at the moment than telling the truth that would make her feel sad

"Amani..." Becca was about to assure her friend again that everything would be okay when they suddenly started hearing sirens coming from far away.
