"I mean, this is the part you tell me I didn't fail miserably as a mother, child" Martha rolled her eyes at her son.

Asher stood up and took the bottle from her and poured himself a drink.

"You did the best you could for us, was it enough? That's arguable but you did show up for us when it matters…eventually. I mean, the drug you spiked my milk with, without my knowledge, made me overcome my stage fright when I was fourteen years old. Did I recite the correct essay, no! Did I get my first 'C' afterwards and a week detention with the school principal, yes…"

"Honey, you suck at making someone feel better, do you know that?" Martha asked her son.
