Bab 2: UNWANTED FEATURES
"I agree with you, Angga. I can't wait to see how quiet the sun is tomorrow because there's no Brian at home, hahaha!" Dannis joined in making fun of Brian while high-five with Angga.
"Watch out for you, okay? If you cry when I leave later, I'll make fun of you being with Dad and Mom, you know!" Brian was annoyed at being the laughing stock of his two older brothers. But it was routine in the family every day. The youngest is the butt of the jokes of his brothers.
That is the atmosphere every morning at Brian's house. The jokes and jokes of the three of them always bring joy to their home. Dannis, Angga, and Brian were educated with the love of their parents so that the three of them continued to get along even when they were adults.
This kind of love has always stuck in Brian's heart since he was young and no doubt makes it a bit difficult for him to walk independently. But Abhimanyu was sure not to change his decision to move to another city.
The farewell was filled with emotion considering the five of them had never been apart for a long time. Usually only a few days Daddy and Dannis have to go to a company meeting out of town. And also several times Mommy and Angga were out of town to attend health seminars.
Brian left using Dannis's car with Angga. Meanwhile, his parents left in his mother's car. The two cars headed for the train station, where Brian started for Bandung.
After saying goodbye to his mother and father, Brian went to his brothers who were about five meters in front of Brian.
But when Brian almost arrived in front of his two older brothers, Brian's steps stopped and his body was pushed forward crashing into his two older brothers.
"Ouch!" Brian groaned when he almost fell to the floor if his body was not restrained by Dannis and Angga.
Brian looked back and saw who hit him. And suddenly Brian was stunned when he found out that it was a woman with long flowing hair who had her back turned to him.
As a normal man of mature age, who wouldn't be attracted to such a beautiful sight? Likewise with Brian when he looked at the woman's face when she turned around.
A beautiful face plus red lipstick that made the thin lips blush defiantly. Even though seemed very contrasting and even striking when her clean white skin was wrapped in a fiery red dress, and high heels of the same color.
"Beautiful!" Brian chirps which can be heard by Dannis and Angga who are chuckling at their little brother's behavior.
"Your eyes are conditioned first, Brian! It's rude to look at women until your drool comes out!" whispered Angga in Brian's ear until Brian gasped and was immediately busy wiping the liquid that was not there at all on his lips.
"Hahaha, He is just teasing you know!" said Dannis, followed by a mocking laugh in Brian's ear.
"Damn!" Brian grumbled who was now standing up straight.
'Oh okay. I won't be angry. Maybe she just accidentally slipped in her rush. But, we can get to know each other, can you, can't you?' said Brian in a heart that was slightly interested in the appearance of the young woman in front of him.
Or maybe just to make small talk? Wishing luck if the lady accepted their introduction. But if not, then no problem at all. As simple as that is Brian's current thinking.
But suddenly Brian's fantasy disappeared when the girl looked at him sharply and then spoke with cynical words.
"This is what if humans don't use their eyes, you're just using it as a display!" said the woman who spontaneously made the three brothers flabbergasted.
"I didn't hear wrong, did I?" The irritated Brian grumbled for a moment.
Brian started to walk but his hand was greeted by the tug of his two older brothers. Those who know the most about their little brother's mouth like to itch and want to curse things that irritate her. Examples like the moment.
"What the hell? After bumping into people instead of apologizing, but instead pretending to be the most correct! Who are you accusing of not using eyes? weren't you the one who bumped into me? It's beautiful but unfortunately, the attitude is a minus! Not recommended be daughter-in-law, anyone!" Brian could not contain his annoyance with the pretentious attitude of a woman who bumped into him.
The beautiful woman, who had already turned around and taken steps to leave after hurting Brian's feelings, immediately stopped when she heard Brian cursing. The woman turned around and looked at the three brothers.
"Astagfirullahalazim!" said Brian over and over again and accompanied by an attitude of looking away from the woman's gaze at him.
Of course, Brian turned his face away and turned his gaze to another direction when he was stared at by a face that had drastically changed to a horrible one.
The woman in front of Dannis, Angga, and Brian showed a pale white face with glowing red eyes. Coupled with a wide grin that almost reached her ears. From that smile, Brian saw a pair of long fangs with bloody tongues sticking out long down.
"Astagfirullah… why am I so unlucky, anyway!?" chirp Brian again after saying istighfar.
Brian gasped when he saw the woman's face. He does not know where the beautiful face that was seen before who for a moment Brian admired. Now that face has turned into a scary old grandmother's face.
Her beautiful eyes turned red. The red lips that had turned red had become wider as blood flowed from her mouth. And one more thing, the old grandmother smirked showing fangs until all the fine hairs on Brian's body stood up at once.
Brian looked away not wanting to look at her again. It's a shame if you have seen such a scary sight. Until and when he heard his father's voice, Brian open his eyes.
"Brian, what did you see?" his dad asked when the scary-looking woman left from there.
"Hmm, as usual, Dad..." Abhimanyu answered doubtfully.
Seeing the expression of his youngest son, the father understood that Brian must have seen something strange again.
"Don't think about it and don't look at it again, so that she doesn't follow you later!" said the father to Brian who immediately nodded in understanding.
Since Bride was little, only Mr. Aditya, the father, was aware of the slight advantages that Brian had. He doesn't know when exactly Brian had the gift he didn't expect.
Brian can see creatures that are not human or can be said to be spirits. But those exaggerated senses don't work all the time.
It only happens occasionally and it might happen because of 'them' who want to show 'their' figure to Brian because it is impossible for Brian himself to want to see them. Nobody wants to see things like that.
Often these senses function when Brian's body is weak or not fit. And currently, Brian is down because he will be separated from his family for a long time by moving cities.
"Yes, Dad. I don't want to be followed too, anyway!" Brian replied with goosebumps on his body.
Brian tried to ignore what he saw earlier and turned to his family and said goodbye.
Brian was advised by his parents and two older brothers until they were full as if the distance between the cities of Bandung and Jakarta was very far. With the humming of his mother, Brian began to step forward, away from them.
Yes, today Brian will start his own life and try to be independent.
Brian boarded the train carriage that matched the booking code he had just checked in.
Bismillah... also he did not forget to say when the train started running. Brian turned to the window and watched his four favorite people walk away because the train he was riding in had already started to move.
From the slow start to the maximum speed of the train, Brian looked at the view from the window beside him.
'Turns out this is what it's like to ride a train, huh? It's cool too!' he mumbled in his heart and smiled. Because this is the first time Brian in a train in his life. And this feeling coincided with his departure from the comfortable home where he had been sheltering all this time.
He felt an uncomfortable stomach. Either because he was nervous because it was the first time he left his family, or because it was the first time that Brian had boarded the train. Who knows…
Brian decided to sleep along the way. Intends to calm down for a moment the heart and mind that had been tangled before.
Brian opened his eyes when someone tapped him on the shoulder and it turned out that Mr. Machinist had woken up him because the train had arrived at the Bandung city station.
From there Brian immediately took a taxi available at the station by showing the address on his cellphone screen to the driver.
The car goes through the bustling city which is no less bustling than the hometown of Brian.
The speed of the car slowed down when Brian thought the address he was going to was near. And yes, the driver dropped Brian in front of a large building like an apartment.
"From the outside, this building is still very good and maybe it's still worth living in, but why is the price offered by the owner so cheap? Ah, let's just say my lucky start here, won't I?" Brian muttered as he walked happily towards the security post there.
There, Brian reported as a new occupant of room 42. He could see that the two security men sitting there were paying close attention to Brian.
Note: Istighfar is a prayer that is usually said by a Muslim when he sees something that makes him startle or gasp.
