Bab 605: Bleak futures

This was a version of me I didn't want to be.

The crying mess curled up in a ball? It wasn't me, but here I was. I could blame my pregnancy, but it wasn't that. This was something that had nothing to do with anyone else. It was my feelings and insecurities bubbling to the surface. This thread had been frayed, and we just happened to pull it out tonight.

It didn't help that all the yelling upset Penelope, so she was crying, too. 

What had I expected? I knew he'd go. That's why I fought so hard for him to stay. Now, I didn't know what would happen. Confronting Robert was the wrong move, but I felt frozen to the spot. It had nothing to do with Ivan telling me to stay or even Pen-Pen. Something within me stopped me, and I had a good guess as to what it was. 

It hadn't reared its ugly head in a few days, but it always had to remind me it was there.
