Bab 7: What is the Heroine doing here?!?
After Philly was done giving me the memories, he bid me farewell.
I lied down on my bed and cried silently. When he was mentioned, I felt intrigued because he had the same name as me. However, I didn't give a second thought as to why he died or what happened to him. But now it was different. It felt...personal. Witnessing his memories and experiences, it felt almost like I was him.
My heart felt pained when I remembered what the previous host had to go through. His past was never mentioned in the otome game. But now I know. He was bullied and scorned for being weak. I was sad and...angry.
How could the Queen and King do that to such a young child? And Leon and Liam! They were family!
Even though Kalin was weak, he was still strong. Funny right? Kalin was the 3rd strongest of his age group. Kalin had powerful ice magic that no opponent could defend themselves against.
Except, of course, his two older brothers.
In his parents eyes, Kalin was only 3rd best.
Kalin did not want anything except for his family's love, but he never got it, even on his deathbed. He only wanted to be loved, to feel like he was needed in this lonesome world.
When he met Claire, the heroine's best friend, she pulled him out of his dark world. The previous host developed a crush on her and felt like his life was worth living.
With that thought, I angrily wiped away my tears and sat up.
How dare she? Claire was deceiving the previous host. The previous host who thought he found love was being deceived. I will never forgive her.
I knew for certain that she was the one behind the poisoning, but I had a feeling that there was at least one more person involved.
But...who?
I got up from my bed and began to pace in my room.
Who would want to kill the previous host so bad?
I searched through the host's memories and stopped when I saw a man. It was the tutor (scholar).
The tutor was teaching a subject to the three triplets but ever so often I saw the tutor glance at Kalin with hate.
I then looked at another memory.
Kalin was about 5 years old and he was trying to sneak into the kitchen to steal some food.
It was before he met Claire and about a month since Kalin was kicked out of the Silver Palace.
Although the King and Queen kicked him out from the Gold Palace and into the Silver Palace, they still gave Kalin basic necessities.
In the beginning, they ordered the servants to clean the Silver Palace, and provide him food and clothes. However, after a few weeks, they simply stopped caring.
All the servants that were employed there complained to the Queen and King that the 3rd prince was unreasonable and unruly.
As compensation, they were transferred to either the Diamond Palace or the Gold Palace.
That is how Kalin ended up with no servants.
Since he had no servants, no one was maintaining the Palace and no one was bringing him food. Kalin was able to last a week without food before he grew too hungry. So he crawled his way to the kitchen.
He was starving. When he saw the doorway to the kitchen, he couldn't help but say, "F-food." It came out as a whisper.
The young prince was too weak to get up, and his vision was getting blurry.
He noticed that the door was cracked, and with sudden hope, he felt a burst of energy overcome him. He walked to the door and was about to open it when he stopped.
It was of the tutor making out with the head cook.
"Who's there!" A sharp voice yelled.
The young prince did not answer, instead he fell face first onto the floor and passed out due to hunger.
"Shit!" The tutor shouted.
After that event, the King made sure that there would always be at least 3 servants to take care of Kalin.
That is where the memory ended.
I gasped in realization. It all made sense.
I was reincarnated in the middle of dinner. That must mean that the previous host died shortly after dinner began.
The previous host's food was poisoned!
And who else could it be beside the tutor?!?
The tutor must have told his lover, the head cook, to help him poison the food.
This was never mentioned in the otome game!
Why did Claire and the Tutor want me dead?
Something just did not add up.
I glanced to the side and my eyes widened.
"Holy Fuck! Is that a smartphone!"
At the corner of my bed was a phone.
I just then remembered one of the things of the otome game that made me interested.
Unlike most otome games, there were hints of items from my world. The game developers must have been lazy but the technology of this world was almost identical to mine. There were phones, tv's, camera's, cars, airplanes etc...
Everything was like our world except for the weird clothes and of course, magic.
I excitedly turned on the smartphone and was surprised when there was no password.
I need to change that, I thought.
I clicked on the Instagram app and went to my profile. My username was my real name: Prince Kalin Azara Luther.
Kalin had only 1 post from about 3 years ago. Kalin tagged his two brothers. The caption said: I hope you guys have fun at the birthday banquet! Happy 8th birthday brothers! Next year, I hope I get to celebrate with you guys!
Leon, Liam and Kalin were triplets which meant they had the same birthday. Even after being ignored, Kalin still wished them happy birthday, but he did not get anything in return.
The King and Queen held a grand birthday banquet every year for the two princes. Everyone was invited except Kalin.
Kalin had 0 followers even though he was a prince. Kalin followed about 2000 people. I frowned when I saw that among those he followed were his family.
I then began to unfollow all 2000 people. I'm petty, I know. So now, my profile has 0 followers, 0 following and 0 posts. I then made my account private.
I searched up my brother's account and I was not surprised when I found out that Liam and Leon had 15 Million followers each.
I was about to exit the app when I had a sudden impulse. I wanted to see the hidden capture target account. I searched him up and his account was his real name: Prince Kairos Calisto. Kairos was the hidden capture target as well as the demon prince. He was a year older than Kalin.
Kairos's account was public. He had 0 posts and 0 following. He had 30 million followers.
I wonder why he did not follow anyone.
Someone knocked at my door.
"Your highness!" A woman's voice yelled, which startled me.
My phone slipped out of my hands due to my shock, and I unknowingly pressed the follow button.
"Come in!"
It was one of the maids. She bowed.
"Lady Sutton is here. She is waiting in the rose garden."
My eyes widened in shock. Lady Sutton? The heroine's best friend?
"Do you mean Claire Sutton?" I asked.
"No, I mean the count's illegitimate daughter, Lia Lovegood-Sutton."
WHAT!!!!???? Wasn't that the Heroine?!
In the otome game, it was never revealed that the heroine was the count's illegitimate daughter.
How come it changed?
"Illegitimate daughter?" I questioned.
She looked at me confused.
"Oh! You were in a coma for a week. After you passed out, it was revealed that Lia Lovegood, a commoner, was actually the Count's illegitimate daughter! It was even trending!" The maid exclaimed.
I nodded.
If the heroine's hidden identity was revealed, what did this mean for the plot?
"Alright, tell her I will be there in 10 minutes. I need to get dressed."
The maid nodded and left my room.
I got dressed and walked out to meet the heroine.
It was bright and sunny outside and I saw her sitting, drinking a glass of lemonade.
Her hair was dark brown and pulled into two braids at the side. She had honey-gold eyes and she smiled brightly when she saw me.
She quickly put down her glass of lemonade and stood up.
"I heard you were ill, so I came to visit you. My name is Lia Lovegood-Sutton, nice to meet you!" She said with a huge smile.
Meanwhile...In the Demon Realm
The Demon Prince was bored. Everyday was the same. He would wake up, go to training and come back.
He decided to look through his Instagram when he heard a notification pop up.
Prince Kalin Azara Luther followed you.
Wasn't he the 3rd prince? All of my 30 million followers were all members of my personal army.
Why did a human prince follow me?
He looked at Kalin's profile but there was nothing. 0 posts, 0 followers and 1 following.
He was the only one Kalin followed.
Interesting.
The demon prince smirked and followed Kalin back, not knowing that this would soon make him and Kalin trending.
He then got up and walked to the throne room.
"Father, I have a favor to ask. Please allow me to study abroad in the Human Realm."
