Bab 9: Pure Blood Secrets
" Andromeda you may have strayed from the family for several years now but you know the blood in your veins grants many benefits."
Cygnus Black the Third stood and said these words confidently to the room. Looking around the room he focused on the Tonks family elders.
" The status of a pure blood family means more than you could possibly understand Lord and Lady Tonks. I believe your son could educate you on such matters."
" I admit I know nothing of what my grandson speaks of, but I could care less. Wizards have longevity. Wizards have power. Wizards can rule the world should we ever so desire."
"What wizards lack to achieve such a step is simply unity. A unity that only currently exists among the pure blood families. There may be some self righteous fools among us who advocate for muggles but make no mistake they only advocate out of pity."
At these words Cygnus could see the offense taken by everyone in the room. The anger in their eyes was very telling but he knew this was the opportunity he was building towards.
" Andromeda the precious Albus Dumbledore you sing endless praises of is no better than the rest of us. The Dumbledore family is a pure blood family. He does not speak for muggles out of understanding, how could someone who has no familial ties to muggles do so? He has never lived among them or desired to! What could he possibly know!?"
"No girl he's not the champion you make him out to be. In the end Albus Dumbledore reached his position with the support of pure blood families. Headmaster of Hogwarts, Grand Sorcerer, Supreme Mugwump, Chief Warlock. ALL titles we gave him. No one else could do so. Remember that all positions of political power are held by pure bloods here in Britain."
" Now Karkaroff is in fact a coward. That I will grant you, but the man knows to continue with the proper ideology. Not because Wizards are clearly superior to muggles but because only pure blood teachings can grant you a better life in this country."
" My grandson you seem far more intelligent than I granted you credit for, but tell me what can you gain by graduating from Hogwarts? What wealth can be generated from interacting with families with no power? At best you can live a common life, at worst...well look to the Weasleys."
As Cygnus was finishing his tirade Lucius almost couldn't believe it was his father in law speaking. Narcissa at his side for the first time in her life knew her father considered more than just blood line, it seems he considered his daughters futures a lot more than they gave him credit for.
" Son in law I know you owe me no good will, and I'm sure my daughter has informed you how evil I am, Lord and Lady Tonks. As parents though surely you must understand my position. Andromeda stood to live a wealthy and pleasant life by marrying a fellow pure blood. Look at Narcissa she lives with her every desire fulfilled with a caring husband at her side. Bellatrix, her mistakes aside, has so much wealth that she could simply buy this country."
The Tonks elders and Ted felt uncomfortable at such words.
What has always been a sore point for Ted was clearly highlighted at this moment. The Tonks elders on the other hand were utterly bewildered that one of their daughter in laws sisters could buy the country. Henry gave them an idea of who the wealthy families were once but did not go into Andromedas relation to them. Now they had to sit here completely blindsided by a concept of wealth they could never really understand. Buy the country? What ridiculous sum of money would be needed for that.
" Think of my words as I say my final piece. You should all take the Black family name, on my end I will declare my grandson the Black family heir, have my granddaughter marry Narcissa's boy. As the Black family heir the boy will soar and live an easy life especially if he attends Durmstrang. The girl will live even better off as a Malfoy. By Merlin, if she so desires she could run the Auror department in no less than the next five years by using the family name alone."
Once more things had gotten awkward for the Tonks family. Alfred and Isabella were aware how hard it was to eek out a decent livelihood for their son. Without their own connections Ted may have lived a much harder life. Ted in fact was nearly won over by the speech as whether he liked it or not the man made sense. Without Dora's talent to become an auror her other prospects at a job in the wizarding world would grant her little to no pay until she would have to resort to unsavory means if she wanted to persist in it or simply find new prospects in the muggle world like he did.
Andromeda herself was the most conflicted of all. In her youth she chose love and she does not regret it for a single second. Despite that she knew love alone was of little sustenance. In their early years Ted and herself struggled after her private savings ran out. For the first time in her life she learned the true value of a galleon, something that she previously considered as easily to acquire as the flick of a wand. It was an enlightening experience and a point of pride for her that they managed to overcome those times and have all that they have today.
The current reality however was not as easy to accept. While she held pride in Dora's position as an auror she knew the dangers and did not like her daughters career choice. Despite her slight distaste for the position she also knew she could offer her daughter no better alternatives. Not to mention what of Henry's future prospects? All that could quickly change by submitting to her father. The hardships she and Ted encountered would never befall her children. Such temptation was hard to keep at bay, and yet she also felt like disagreeing with all her heart.
As the adults in the room struggled with the offer on hand, Henry did no such thing. He wanted them to agree then and there. This was the most efficient way for him to advance in this life. Only fools with some idiotic ideas of becoming the supreme warrior of the universe would deny having an army to fight for them. With the Black name and the Malfoy family as his backer he could soon raise an army so he could have a say in the Wizarding world and even the larger Marvel universe.
A lone powerful wizard could do little to have a voice in the world of Marvel and a lone figure would often be taken advantage of by SHIELD, the Avengers, hell just the annoying NPC's of the world could do so, just look at Spiderman. With the Wizarding world at his back however such problems would be greatly alleviated. For others it may be easy to get caught up in the Wizarding world and the novelty of reincarnation, and at times Henry did, but Henry has never forgotten that a rotten individual like him was given this opportunity only to face something or someone by a God.
To survive the encounter he would do everything possible to advance his position and take advantage of every single opportunity presented. Why should he weather the danger alone? Human wave tactics were a perfectly valid way to win a battle.
" I can accept some of your terms grandfather but there's a few points that are detrimental to my own vision for the Wizarding world."
Henry's word brought a strange silence to the room. His form of address towards Cygnus and the words spoken seemed foreign and out of place.
"Come on then, what is your vision grandson?"
At this point the adults stopped trying to analyze the words of Cygnus and were hanging on Henry's every word. The Tonks family knew little to nothing of Henry's own ambitions let alone the visiting Black patriarch and Malfoy family. Frankly the Tonks family was completely caught off guard and could hardly recognize the boy currently speaking. Today could be said to be the day the Wizarding world would completely change.
" Grandfather the pureblood ideology is rather worthless. Not in its benefits mind you but in the over arching goal. Pure bloods desire to be known as superior to muggles, to rule over them, to treat muggles as even less than house elves. Alas this is simply pointless. In reality the main cause behind those desires is that despite feeling superior to muggles, Wizards are forced to hide their existence."
" What Wizards really desire is not sovereignty but freedom. For beings that many muggles would hail as God's being reduced to hide in the shadows is clearly hard to tolerate. That is something I find myself agreeing with."
"Ironically it's not just pure bloods that feel this way, many muggle born and half blood wizards who let their new found magic go to their head would actually agree with the pure blood dream. Just look at Voldemort."
At those words many were stunned but Lucius visibly shook and a bit of anger could be seen in his eyes.
" It's the truth Uncle Lucius. Voldemort preached pure blood supremacy but from what pure blood family did he come from? Slytherin am I right?"
Reigning in his temper, Lucius casually responded.
" That is correct."
Lucius couldn't understand why the question was posed, but while Lucius was visibly confused Henry continued.
" Curious claim the man made, yet somehow all of you fell in line and believed him without question. An unknown self proclaimed pure blood descended from Salazar Slytherin himself, what an honor. Curious bit is that such an illustrious bloodline is well documented is it not?"
" The former dark lord was a parseltongue just like his ancestors."
" Is parseltongue really sufficient proof for all of you? In that case give me a year and I can do the same. No that's not the real reason. What really bought most of you over was the Gaunt family ring he used to wear right? as the Gaunts were known descendants of Slytherin so naturally he could not be a fake with possession of that ring."
Lucius and Cygnus were vigorously nodding. After letting the statement lie a few seconds Henry continued.
" Despite that no one wondered how he got the ring right? I mean the Gaunts were done for with the loss of Morfin Gaunt. How did the ring end with Voldemort then? Who was he sired from in the Gaunt family for him to be able to wear that ring?"
At this question Lucius and Cygnus were deathly quiet. In regards to Voldemort's blood status they never once questioned it but as Henry continued speaking somethings were becoming hard not to question.
" Yes ladies and gentlemen the big bad lord moldy butt was born from a muggle and a Gaunt. Merope Riddle nee Gaunt to be exact. Don't believe me well.."
Henry quickly wrote on a sheet of paper and showed the room:
TOM MARVOLO RIDDLE
Which he later rearranged to:
I AM LORD VOLDEMORT
The news came with little to no impact on Alfred and Isabella. Ted and Andromeda were shaken, particularly Ted who now knew he almost died due to someone of a similar background to himself. Most shocked were Lucius and Cygnus who had their worldview slightly shatter. Lucius in particular who often viewed himself as the most intelligent of all death eaters could not stomach the details revealed.
" Why do you believe such things boy?"
" It's simple Uncle Lucius the events under Voldemorts reign may have been hidden as best as possible by the ministry but knowledge is always available to those who search for it."
" After learning that Voldemort claimed to hail from Slytherin I wondered what year he attended Hogwarts and if he was sorted into Slytherin. All members of Slytherin house are either half bloods or pure bloods without exception and can be traced to current ministry positions, magical achievements, or cells in Azkaban. Yet documents of Voldemort never appeared in any written records of the years before he came to power but a Gaunt under the care of Morfin Gaunt did."
" Tom Marvolo Riddle. Former Slytherin Head boy and Prefect."
" The name got me curious as I've read a lot on Wizarding history and never once encountered a single achievement under the family name Riddle. So where did this mysterious young man under the care of the last remaining Gaunt come from? Well eventually after searching through muggle records I came to realize he came from a one Tom Riddle Senior and Merope Gaunt. The two were legally bound spouses and parents to a one Tom Marvolo Riddle."
" Curious isn't it. Pure blood champion Lord Voldemort himself is nothing more than a muggle born half wizard himself. Well luckily for all of you he really is a descendant of Slytherin right? To bad Salazar Slytherin would be furious to learn his own descendant was a half blood sired by a muggle but can't please everyone am I right?"
