"Jack. Do you have a moment?" Xavier asked
Jack and the others just got off the X-Jet and returned from their mission. The former was about to follow Emma back to their room to have a 'not-birthday' celebration with just the two of them.
But from the way that Xavier and the other X-Men were looking at him, Jack decided against rejecting them.
Jack and Emma followed Xavier back to his office while the rest of the X-Men got all the kids situated. When the doors closed, Xavier asked the question that had been on his (and most of my readers') mind for a while.
Jack hadn't officially joined the institute for more than a day but with his constant visits and saving so many children, Xavier had grown very familiar with him. But there was something he still did not understand.
"What is your goal, Jack?"
Jack looked at Xavier before turning to Emma before finally looking up and closing his eyes.
'How do I say this out loud? So easy to understand my own thoughts but hard to convey to others. Guess that means I really am a genius since I find it so hard to explain myself.'
"I'm just like most regular people without a major goal in life. I've already achieved the basics. I have a sexy and smart lover, I have enough money where I don't have to worry about anything else for the rest of my life, and I enjoy what I do for a living.
But if I had to say a goal of mine? My goal is Mutant Excellence. I don't believe in human acceptance as you do or mutant superiority as Magneto does. Because to me, it seems like you want mutants to suppress themselves to make humans feel better about themselves. Magneto wants every mutant to be seen as better than every human.
I just want to see a world where every mutant is proud to be a mutant. Where if someone has a power that makes them a better archer, they don't feel bad about joining the sports team. If a girl has a mutation where her skin is purple scales, she still feels confident walking down the street.
Whether humans or other beings accept mutants or not, I want mutants to accept mutants. And seeing the Morlocks of District X is something that I love seeing. Mutants that lived in the sewers because they were afraid of being out in the open now living in the light.
So whether that means battling every racist here or creating a private place where mutants can live in peace and without fear. I guess that could be said to be my hope and goal," Jack (and BoredAsura) tried his best to explain his goal
It could be said that he was influenced by Emma in the beginning but after witnessing what mutants had to go through and suffer from his own eyes, he saw that Emma's goal truly aligned with his own.
And Jack was willing to burn down the entire world in order to ensure his goal came true.
Hearing that these were Jack's goals, Xavier felt much calmer about having him around. The display of power that Jack put on against Joseph originally put Xavier on his guard against the young mutant.
After explaining himself, Jack took Emma out of the office and returned to her room. Emma walked in and was surprised to see the quintuplets with a cake on the bed.
Emma turned and glared at Jack.
"I told you I didn't want to celebrate my birthday," Emma said through gritted teeth
Jack grabbed one of her arms before dragging Emma the rest of the way into the room and closing the door. He then sat her down on the bed with the girls.
"You did say that. And I wanted to celebrate it. So since it was a tie, I brought in these 5 to help with the vote and they all wanted to celebrate too. That made the final vote 6-1," Jack explained while planting a small kiss on Emma's cheek
Emma sighed to herself before she gave in and started celebrating her birthday with the others. They had cake and exchanged presents but the girls made sure not to stay for more than an hour.
With the quintuplets gone, Jack and Emma lay in bed together before taking a quick nap. the rest of the day passed by very quickly and peacefully.
Over the next few days, Jack got used to being a part of the X-Men. Due to Wanda returning to Genosha to take care of her brother and father, Jack had much more free time than he had expected.
Since he couldn't teach Wanda about using her magic, Jack took the time to take care of Laura and the quintuplet's training.
Laura was becoming calmer and calmer as she trained with Jack. At first, the girl was like a raging inferno that burned anyone who got close to her. But after spending time with Jack and getting lessons from him for 5 days, she had begun to mellow out.
The girl's combat skills had also improved to a large degree. Jack's CQC unarmed skill applied to Laura's claws since they were a part of her body so Jack was easily able to see the flaws in her fighting style and tell her how to improve.
While Laura was learning how to fight, the Quintuplets were learning how to use their telepathic powers better.
Each of them was pretty weak as telepaths by themselves but their skill when working together made them high-level threats. Assuming that the strength of their combined telepathy was dependent on their individual strength, Jack was trained them on using their powers individually.
This was not only to make them stronger but also to bring out their different personalities more. Each of the girls was always together and had a hive mind so they had very little individuality.
Jack was trying his best to bring out the individuals in each of the girls. After a few days, although most others would not be able to see a difference, Jack was able to tell which was which from slight differences in their words and actions.
But after a few days of peace, Jack finally had to confront the thing he was dreading.
Early in the morning, Xavier called Jack into his office. But when he arrived, Captain America, Black Widow, Yellowjacket, and Xavier were all there waiting for him.
