Bab 12: Saying Farewell
The nest day came very quickly, and at the moment you could see Adrian packing his few belongings.
Someone knocked on the door, and walked into the room. It was one of the maids that had come to tell Adrian that everyone was in the meeting hall, waiting only for him.
When Adrian was done packing his things in a small backpack, and put the spear on his back, he went to the meeting hall.
In the meeting hall, he could see that everyone was sitting around the table. Everyone looked at the door, when they saw Adrian walk in.
Adrian saw Gus, Sandro, Alex, Elan and Joanna sitting around the table. Gus had a proud look on his face. Sandro had some affection in his eyes, with a tiny bit of worry. Elanor just had a small warm smile, while at the end, Joanna had a very sad and worried look.
He look at them all, and gave a small smile, he was excited for the journey, but a little sad to be separated from these nice people.
"Please come sit Adrian" Gus said to Adrian. Adrian chose a empty seat next to Joanna. "We have a few things to discuss with you before you go" he continued.
Sandro kept looking at his student "Adrian, we know you are stronger than normal people your age" His face turning serious "But you need to know that you should never ... And I mean never, let your guard down while traveling in the forest"
"I know, don't worry!" Adrian gave him a answer.
"I mean it! the forest is dangerous, there are a lot of looters and beast there!" He really didn't want his student to perish at a early age, since he was quite fond of him.
"AHAHAHA" suddenly Gus roars in laughter "Come on Sandro, you sound like his mother!" Gus stared and Sandro with a very amused look. "Adrian kid, I know you can handle yourself!" Gus seemed to have much more faith in him.
Elanor looked at Adrian with a small smile "Take care chill, I will definitely see you in the capital!" where Adrian could only give a small smile to her.
Alex never really interacted with him, so he had nothing to say, he was sitting silently in the back.
"Everyone, thank you for taking care of me ... I will never forget it!" Adrian was quite moved by all of this. He stood up from the chair, and bowed. They sat there for a bit still, talking about the past year of training.
In the end, it was time for him to go. So he stood up, and said "Bye everyone, and thanks again!".
"Before you go Adrian, I have a small gift for you!" Sandro stood up and said, while he went out of the hall, to get the things. When he came back it, he was carrying a back, and a spear. As Gus saw what he came in with, he had a glint in the eye, and made a beaming smile.
Adrian Couldn't see what was in the back, but he saw the beautiful spear. It was around 180 cm long, black, with golden decorations. The spears blade was around 20 cm long, which was quite a big blade for a spear.
"This is my old leather armor and spear that I used back in the days!" Sandro showed the things in his arms. "What do you think?" He looked at Adrian with some soft eyes.
Adrian was looking at the armor and the spear with an excited glint in the eyes "Y-you sure you want to just ... give it to me?" He was truly moved. "You have already given me enough through the training!"
Sandro just gave him a small nod "Take it, I don't need it anymore" He stretched out his arms, to give the things to Adrian.
As Adrian took the spear at the leather armor, he was surprised by the weight of the spear, and he knew now, why he had been training his strength so much. The spear weighed around 40 kg. which was quite a heavy spear.
"Thank you master ... thank you!" Adrian had no words. This man had done so much for him. How could he ever repay him?
Now that all had been done, Adrian bid his farewells with the old men. Joanna went with him, out of the meeting hall, and followed him until the entrance to the mansion. As they stood in the mansion, it was finally Joannas turn to say her goodbyes.
"good luck on your journey Adrian, please visit me in the academy when I come back!" Joanna could only say so much, since the tears started welling up in her eyes.
Adrian slowly leaned in, and kissed Joanna on the forehead "See you in the capital" He said, with a gentle smile, that could melt any maidens heart. "It is time for me to go!" These were the last words he said, before he went on a new and exciting journey.
Joanna just looked at the back of Adrian, all she could see was a tall proud man, who was ready for anything. This was the man who saved her life, and the man who had captured her heart. Her gaze didn't move away from his back, before he disappeared into the crowd of the busy streets. As soon as he disappeared, a single tear drop fell from her eye.
