With his arm resting on the fence, Qin Jie leaned slightly forward, staring at the far-off fireworks for a while. Seeing no response from the girl by his side, he glanced at her, "I'm serious, you know."

"I like you a lot."

"Think it over, be my girlfriend."

Another round of fireworks bloomed above the river. The crackling noises of the explosives were intertwined with the faint cheers from the opposite bank.

The vibrant colors of the fireworks flickered on their faces.

Chen Enci looked dazed as if her soul had departed from her body.

Qin Jie straightened up, took a step toward Chen Enci, dropped his gaze onto her, and said, "Give me a response. It's the first time I've confessed to someone."

"If you don't agree, I'll pursue you. If you do agree...," Qin Jie leaned slightly closer to Chen Enci's ear and whispered gently, "...I'll kiss you."
