The old lady who stepped into Weiyang Hall was attired in plain garb made of cheap fabric that had already faded from countless washings; a servant's fare. Still, they were kept spotless just like her hair, which was pulled back into a tight bun with not a strand out of place. She was a sharp contrast to the opulence of the imperial city, her status so lowly that no official worth his salt would have paid her any mind should they have crossed her path out in the streets.
Today, however, all eyes fell upon her as she made her way up the aisle to present herself before the throne with unerring dignity.

Queeniecat (1) Osteoarthritis in traditional Chinese medicine: there are some interesting research papers written on the subject that look at the traditional explanation for osteoarthritis that are still relevant in modern times and can be used for pain management. One of these points is the exacerbation of joint pain when exposed to certain elements, leading to the formation of the hypothesis that wind-cold-damp exploit a body compromised by aging to result in damaged joints. Hence, traditional cures include methods to chase away the wind-cold-damp, such as hot compresses and physical therapy, all of which have been confirmed by extensive modern research to have good outcomes.
(2) Bosom friends: the literal term I had in my head, when directly translated, means ‘knows oneself’, as in someone who understands oneself. very difficult to fit into an English sentence hahahaha (‘:
(3) Righteousness family: an idiom that means to place righteousness above blood ties and to call out and even punish the wrongs done by family.
(4) As guilty as thieves: an idiom that means to have something on one’s conscience. I’m not actually convinced thieves feel all that guilty though…
