I was stunned when I saw Rackie in the bank. She's really beautiful yet she has Wisdom, my cousin who's drawing me away from her besides she has a boyfriend at that time.
"Bro, who's that? Is that your girlfriend, Glimmer?" asks one of the workmates.
I shook my head. "That girl is much more beautiful than my girlfriend," I replied.
"Whoa! There's someone who's much more beautiful than your girlfriend?" said another workmate.
"Yes, and that's the girl whom I'm talking to earlier," I said. "I wasn't able to court her that time because she's like a family to us," I said. "She was like a sister to my cousins so I'm banned."
"How about me, can I court her?"
I laughed. "I think you can but the question is… can you wait for years to get her sweetest yes? Can you tolerate a whole month of her not texting nor sending you any messages? And most importantly, can you hold your jealousy?" I laughed at their reaction. "That girl is so busy and she has a lot of male friends and she's close to my cousins," I said.
"It's natural for girls to be close to their fellow." Replied my workmate.
I shook my head. "My cousins aren't girls, all of them were male also she's more of a male than us," I said.
"How can you say that?"
"Do you know Abbie-the-Rider? The daredevil motor racer whose tricks are deadly?" I ask then they nod in reply. "That's her." Their jaw dropped after they heard what I'd said.
"It seems that the guy who'll make her fall in love won't just be a nobody."
"I agree because the road won't be easy, that guy should face me, my cousins, her male friends, her ex-boyfriend before you can go to their house, you are already rejected."
"Whoa! She's difficult to court then."
"Oh, well… it's simple to court her but the stages won't be that easy so if I were you, I won't push it."
"Why?"
"She's terrifying as a girlfriend. Not because of being high maintenance but because she doesn't have requirements, too much freedom, not the jealous-type girlfriend but if she found out you cheat, she'll give you a closure you'll never deserve then she won't show herself for years." I said then looked at the time. "I'll go ahead, it's already time, I have to look after my ex-girlfriend in her shop."
"Why would you look after her? That's your ex, right?"
"I have to." I shortly replied.
I still look after Levi, I know it was my fault why she was hurt but I need to let her go because we were both making ourselves a fool of the things that we both knew won't work. From our five years of being together, we both knew that we just push our luck to revive the thing that will never happen because she's in love with my cousin, Wisdom.
*"Babe, what's wrong?" Levi asks who was hurt.
I can't look at her straight in her eyes. It might be obvious that I'm just lying. "Sorry, I… I have another girl, Levi." That's the only reason slip out of my mouth.
"Who?" she asks in disbelief.
I can't make Rackie as an excuse because I'm very sure that Wisdom will kill me so I've thought of my high school best friend, Glimmer. I'm hoping that Glimmer will forgive me. "Sorry, Levi." I apologized.
"Sapience, who? Who?" she desperately asks.
I can't look her in the eyes because she's crying and it's killing me. "Glimmer." I finally said. "Uh…. Uhm… hmm…" I can't say anything as an excuse.
She wipes her tears. "I see… I understand." She said then slapped me so hard that it made me numb.
I look at her leaving after she left I took a deep breath. I called Glimmer right away. "Where are you?" I asked.
"In the house, why?"
"House, where? You have a lot of houses to live in."
"At my house." She shortly replied.
"Okay, I'm on my way," I said I didn't wait for her to say anything and end the call. I need someone to talk to right now, I can't reach Rackie even if she's the person I want to badly talk to.
"And what brings you here?" she said after opening the door for me.
I held up high the plastic bag that I bought from the grocery before coming to her house. I went in without her inviting me to come in then sat on the floor and lean on the sofa behind me. She gets the plastic bag. "Hey, I'm asking you… what brings you here?" she asks again while she's removing the tin cans I bought in the plastic bag. "Saps, tell me the truth, are we going to drown ourselves by drinking soft drinks?"
"You knew I'm not drinking alcohol so that's what I bought," I replied while my eyes are closed.
"Answer my first question."
"Levi and I broke up," I said in a low tone of voice.
"Huh? Wait, why? What happened? I thought you said she's the one?"
"Yes, she's the one! However, it won't work."
"Why? You said you don't fight, she's not the jealous type of girl and more importantly, she's sweet. So, what's the problem?"
"That's the problem, we never fight even though I am the one who makes us fight, she never gets jealous even though I almost kiss someone in front of her and yes, she's so sweet in short, she's too-good-to-be-true. Do you know that even if I cheat on her, it seems like it's okay with her and that's even painful? She doesn't forbid me from anything which she has to, and let me add this, whenever I say I don't like this and that, she's doing it; when I say don't do this and that, she obeys. She doesn't even say buts and just obeys whatever I say. It's not that I don't like the things she's doing for me, I can't just watch her being with me without living her own life unlike when she's with Wisdom. She voices out what she wants, she fights for what's her right, and above all it, she has this side of being violent whenever she can't get what she wants yet whenever she's with me, she seems like a puppet." I said out of frustration.
"Hey, don't cry, okay?" she said then sat next to me.
"But you know what's hurting?" I asked while looking at the ceiling. "When I saw her holding on and see in her eyes how hurt she is when she's crying right in front of me because she doesn't want to let go but I let her go because it wasn't healthy for our relationship, that hurts!" I close my eyes again to not let any tears drop from my eyes. "Glim, one more thing… sorry, sorry I used you to break up with her today," I said then tears flow from my eyes.
She stood up in shock. "Why did you use me as your shield?" she annoyingly asked.
"I can't think of any reason. If I said it wasn't healthy for our relationship… she'll surely say to me, let's work this out or I'm not going to do whatever I'm doing, just don't break up with me. Glim, I don't want to hear her say those lines because it's already painful to see her she's just obeying me." I explained without looking at her then wipe my tears off. "Sorry, Glim."
