Bab 54: Beach Party
The ship arrived at Nanohana, stopping a bit farther away from the city, off the coast. The crew had already discussed that Sanji would go and get supplies, but Luffy ran off the ship towards town, shouting "MEAT!"
Sanji sighed and hopped off, going into town as the rest stayed at the ship. Thirteen looked at the island and scratched his neck, White and Chopper were also sweating. Thirteen wiped his forehead and Zoro looked at them, saying "What's wrong with you?"
White started signaling and Chopper said "It's really hot here." Thirteen nodded and flicked his tail behind him, Zoro muttered "Don't cats like the heat?" Thirteen looked at him and turned away, looking at the water.
He tied his chains to the railing before jumping off the ship and landing in the water. Nami and Zoro ran to the side to see Thirteen with half his body in the water, Zoro muttered "I thought cats hated water…"
Nami smacked his head, saying "Does he look like a cat to you?" Zoro rubbed his chin and opened his mouth to see Nami's fist shaking intensely, he said "No he doesn't, not at all!" before walking away.
Vivi looked down and said "Um. Are you okay?" Thirteen ignored her and White slid down the chains, jumping into the water, swimming around Thirteen happily. Chopper looked uneasy and slowly slid down with a rope attached to the Merry.
He went into the water and instantly felt weak but cool.
The trio was cooling off in the sea as the rest decided to go for a swim too. Vivi, Nami, and Caroo swam around as Zoro stayed near Thirteen and Chopper just in case they started drowning.
Thirteen kicked his feet in the water, fighting off the weakness.
Nami and Vivi were splashing each other and giggling while Caroo squawked at White, who was riding him like a ship. Chopper laughed weakly until Caroo splashed him and he started choking on the water, trying to splash back.
Zoro got a face full of water and said "Why you!" before slashing his sword and blowing a huge wave of water, smashing Caroo and White. Chopper burst out laughing until Usopp appeared from the water and started tickling him.
Chopper screamed "STOP! I'LL KILL YOU! AHAHAHAHA!" Vivi and Nami swam over, bringing White and Caroo. Nami came to Thirteen and tried to tickle him. He looked at her and blinked, she pouted at him and he blinked again before slowly opening his mouth.
"Ha."
Everyone paused and turned to Thirteen, looking at him weirdly. The sound that just came out of his mouth didn't sound like a laugh, it was extremely weird. It was like a growl mixed with a bark, mixed with the sound of metal scraping against each other…
Nami stopped and said "Ha… We'll just pretend that never happened…" Thirteen opened his mouth and said "Ha." Zoro covered his ears and said "Please stop. I can't handle it." Usopp latched onto Zoro and said "What is that?!"
Chopper was stunned and shouted "YOU CAN TALK!?"
That was the queue to go back to the deck and end the beach party. They decided to stay on the land instead, sitting around and taking in the sun.
Suddenly, the group saw Sanji running over, shouting "Get on the ship! Marines!" The group was startled and got onto the ship. Sanji laid down the huge back he was carrying and said "Luffy's coming."
Nami looked over and said "Yeah, I can see that…" Everyone turned in her direction and saw Luffy running with a trail of dust behind him. There was also a man with a hat running with him and Smoker chasing the duo.
The ship started sailing slowly as Luffy and the hat man jumped from the land to the ship. Thirteen jumped off the ship and punched the ground in front of Smoker, looking at him.
Smoker's eyes widened as he said "It's you!" Thirteen jumped back into the cloud of dust and disappeared. Smoker grit his teeth and blew away the dust with his smoke, but when the dust cleared the ship was too far away. He cursed, "Damn!"
On the ship~
Luffy grinned and pointed to the guy in the hat, saying "This is my brother, Ace!" The crew, except Thirteen, was stunned. They didn't know that Luffy had a brother at all!
Ace smiled kindly and said "Hello, everyone." He eyed Thirteen briefly, before closing his eyes and smiling normally.
