Two days pass. Using her summoning magic, Eris calls forth her familiars to survey the area around her. Her familiars consist of black bats, similar in size to Flying Foxes, with red eyes and razor sharp fangs. She also has black rats and black wolves with similar eyes and teeth. Using these, Eris is currently trying to map out the continent that her, her castle, and her subordinates are resting on. She does so through her familiar's skill which allows the vampire to see through their eyes. Through this power, not only can Eris map out the entire continent, but she can also locate the borders between countries and even figure out what races live in those countries by looking closely.
Eris is currently inside of a square room with four other individuals. The vampire wears her dark queen's outfit and also has Nightmare in its sheath on her waist. Two of the individuals are Hadrian and Raven. There's another young-looking female who seems to be in her mid twenties. She wears dark robes, similar to Ravens, and also has skin color similar to Raven's as well. But unlike the dark elf witch, This woman has irises that glow with a massive assortment of colors. Then she also has rainbow colored, butterfly-like wings on her back. In her left hand, she carries a wooden staff with a green, spherical jewel at the end.
The other individual has no skin or flesh of any kind, and is just made out of dark grey bones. In his hollow eyes, he has two, glowing red dots. All of his bony fingers come to a sharp point at the end, as do his toes, making him appear like the skeleton of a humanoid monster. He wears a red, hooded cape with black, leather armor on his body, shoulders, forearms, and forelegs. He also has two, vicious-looking, black sickles, one secured to both sides of his waist.
The five of these individuals surround a large, circular table that glows with a dim, blue light, the only light in the room that they're in. Eris waves her hand over the glowing table and an object appears over it. The object appears to be a massive content, and showcases the borders, the capital cities of each country, the larger rivers, lakes, and oceans, and the different types of terrain.
Eris is the first one to speak, breaking the silence of the room, "This is the map of the continent that we're currently living on, or at least a drawing of what I've seen through the eyes of my familiars."
"Impressive as always, Empress," says the skeleton in a dark, foreboding voice.
"Thanks Kieran. I've also determined the races that are incharge of each of these countries. At this point in time, we're currently within the borders of a small nation of vampires in the middle of this continent," Eris explains as she points to a red dot close to the center of the map.
"A nation of vampires huh? Well that's convenient. Maybe we can get them to pledge loyalty to Empress Eris," the woman with butterfly wings says with a smile.
"I think we should wait on that, Leila. We still don't know if we can truly trust those vampires. They may be the same race as our empress, but that doesn't mean that they'll have the same views. After all, humans turn on each other all the time," Hadrian says.
"Hadrian is right. Now getting back to the discussion, There are at least nine countries on this continent. To the west, there's a human country, to our north there's a massive forest filled with elves, and to the south is another human nation. The human nation to the south is very discriminatory against other races so I think we'll need to avoid any contact with them. The nation to the west is not as bad, but it's still not great. Most of the inhuman races there are part of that country's population of slaves. I believe that with the right moves, we can get that nation on our side. I'm also kind of apprehensive about the elven nation to the north. I highly doubt that creatures of the light, like elves, would be so kind to us."
"What about the other nations, Empress?" Raven asks.
"Most of them are primarily composed of humans. Past the vampire nation to the east is a country that hosts a wide array of races. There are three more human nations to the south. And finally there's a nation of dwarves that live in the snowy mountains to the northwest."
"Well, at least we know that there are other races in this world beside humans. If that were the case then it would be quite troublesome," says Kieran.
"What races were you able to make out, Empress?" Hadrian asks.
"If my eyes didn't deceive me, I saw vampires, I located a few hordes of goblins, ogres, and kobolds. I also located some caves further to the north that might be the home to a few ice elves. I found some desert areas to the far south that look like they belong to the serqet. To the east I found various other caves that seem to hold creatures like lamias, arachne, and harpies. And in the inhuman nation I saw several settlements that look like they belong to giants, werewolves, dark elves, a few types of demons, centaurs, and dragonoids or lizardmen as they call them in this world. Finally, I think I saw several different groups of mer-people scattered the seas and oceans that surround the continent. Races like the serqet, lamia, arachne, harpies, giants, and the dark elves are considered types of monsters on this continent."
"Hm… considering the serqets have the lower halves of scorpions, I don't find it surprising that the humans are afraid of them, but their kind is normally very timid. The same goes for the lamia with the lower halves of snakes and the arachne with the lower halves of spiders. Humans are far too easily frightened," says Raven with a disappointed tone.
"Agreed. Then again, because the humans oppress them so much, it's possible that they can be easily won over to our side if we offered them protection," says the anti fairy Lelia with a smile.
"That would be a good idea. However, at this point, I don't even know whether or not I'm going the 'world conquest' route. I know a bit about these countries, but I still don't know how strong any of these nations are. If we do anything that sets us against a foe that we can't win against then it'd be my fault," Eris explains.
"Then what do you suggest we do, Empress?" Kieran asks.
"Hm… we'll stick to our original plan. We need to lean on the side of caution. I'll use my familiars to gather all the information that I can on each of the countries. Only until I'm satisfied with my understanding of these countries will I make a move."
"But Empress, if we wait too long, we could open ourselves up to any potential enemy," says Leila.
"You dare question our master?!" asks Hadrian in an angered tone.
"Calm down, Hadrian. What she says is also true. Then maybe we'll start off small."
"What do you mean by that, Empress?" the undead questions.
"I'm hesitant considering I'm unfamiliar with their rules and customs, but I am considering making contact with the vampire nation."
"That's a very good idea, your highness. You can even use the fact that you have the title of progenitor to your advantage. The vampire's religion does center around their ancestors after all," says Raven.
"That was back in the world we came from. We don't know their religion in this one. If we are going to contact them, we need to be smart on how we do it," says Eris.
"If only there was a vampire from this world that we could ask," says Leila with a heavy sigh.
Suddenly, the blue table flashed with a bright red color and at the same time, released a small, low sound, "Oh. It seems that we have a visitor," Eris says with a smile.
