"Where is prince Wind though?" Fang asked.

"…." Sui Lu was constantly judging Fang, in order to determine his character. She was having a hard time trusting him but she had already run out of options.

"…If you wanted to kill me, you'd already have. Why don't we talk things out peacefully?" Yichen proposed. Fang scoffed and removed the dagger. As he took a step back, Yichen collected himself.
"You have control over the internal forces. Mengyao controls the spies and assassins. I have control over majority of the army while Xiao has control over citizens. Together you got rid of Xiao first and then came after me. I'm really upset Yichen. How dare you look down on my wish for a prosperous Carny?" Fang spoke angrily. Yichen scrutinized his every expression.
"Did you really think that only you two want to rid Carny off Zhang, that depraved monster?" Fang frowned.
"…Of course not! But you cannot blame us. You're a proper warrior with countless soldiers loyal to you. We had to play it safe!" Yichen defended himself. "To save Carny from Zhang, we needed to play dirty. I'm sure you understand. We're politicians, not soldiers."
"Hmph." Fang snorted in disgust.
"But since you're here, I believe you intend to work together. Afterall, council has plenty power too. You need us against Zhang because that man is too powerful!" Yichen spoke.

"Then, please, join us." Yichen smiled.

"Please state your demands." Yichen asked.
"South Carny and Xiao." Fang said.
Yichen's eyes widened.
"That's too much!" he spoke.
"Hah! Would you rather fight with me for the throne of entire Carny then?" Fang challenged while smiling viciously.
"I will take South Carny and rule it as a separate nation. Xiao will be my wife. She will also be my insurance against you two. After all, the public still likes her. Yichen sighed. "South Carny is basically half the state. It's too much."

"Alright." Fang agreed and left.

The next night, Fang & Yichen signed cursed contracts. They also discussed their views, shared information and made plans of revolution. Later on, other ministers joined too. For several days these people gathered in secret and made detailed plans. They needed to have an overwhelming number of troops and make a move abruptly to take out Zhang's loyalists in one fell swoop. Even then, the biggest variable was still Zhang himself.
"I bet he has at least level 2 Master realm cultivation. It could be at level 3 too." Fang spoke in a secret meeting.
"I fear the same. He has been dual cultivating for a long time now. He must have progressed plenty." Mengyao said.
"Let's not forget about the Carny heirloom. It grants incredible power to that old man." Yichen spoke. He had lived long enough to have known about Zhang's power.

"But for that we need to either bribe strategy master Howin or seek one from outside Carny. But we cannot bring an outsider into the palace without rising suspicion and if we take his guidance and tweak the strategy ourselves, it might alert Howin." Another minister said.
"Howin is loyal to Zhang. Even if we offer him Xiao, he might not get swayed and instead spill the beans to Zhang." Yichen was cautious.
"What is the other way, General Fang?" Someone asked.
"The other way is to invite external forces. Make allies with neighbouring nations." Fang said.
"That is a suicidal move! I can't believe you'd suggest it. We'll be done for after Zhang's death. How can we fight those allies if their Master realm rulers want to take over Carny themselves?" Someone shouted.
Fang smiled and raised a hand to stop that person.
"This will be hoax. We will betray those allies and not let them in too deep & provide them only little intel on Carny's defences. The plan here is to draw Zhang out, assess his current cultivation, make changes to the palace's strategy, kill Howin while drawing out the battle. If by chance, Zhang gets injured in war then we can use that chance to backstab him on the way back. If not, then we have the strategy all set for our aid." Fang said.
"Hmm that is a good idea. Although there is some risk, it is still a good thing to go with." Yichen spoke. Others also nodded in agreement.
Some of them still had their own ideas and plans. The meeting continued for several more nights in secrecy.
