Aiden responded, by crippling him, not just his physical self, but his mental state, and inner organs, such that the wizard couldn't lift his hand to mutter a spell or do anything. He just fell to the floor, looking like a lost person, a mentally deranged person.

Seeing this, Emma mused.

If this was the way the battle would happen, then she was sure that she wouldn't be fighting after all. The vampires were just too strong. In a blink of an eye, a wizard was down already. Perhaps this had been what Prescott had suspected, and had told her to stay by his side. Since she wouldn't be doing anything, she might as well not be in a position where she would be a liability to the vampires.
