"We're retiring," The dark-haired male growled, he grabbed my wrist, I stumbled from my chair—a marionette in suspension as Carlisle stormed out of the room. His expression was twisted in anger. My heart sunk. I hadn't even realized how tightly I was clenching the teacup and I had preferred a diversion from the silent war that unfolded in front of me. I wanted nothing more than to vanish.
I didn't have the confidence to ask but his grip was loose. He didn't say a single word but the gaze that painted his oculars made my stomach twist.
Was it me? Did I enrage him? I had wondered what had piqued his anger. The doors opened automatically to reveal a single bed, spacious and luxurious, and a crackling fire. I was slightly relieved by the light that poured in through the windows. The setting sun tinged everything in a blood-soaked orange hue. At least, I thought, I could focus on the sun when I received my punishment.
"Why did you do that?" Carlisle asked.
