Bab 12: Inside

"Oh come on!" Percival said, finally stopping to pepper Leyrin with kisses as the tall female grabbed his hand. It seemed that the warmth she had for me had lessened for the wariness in my eyes felt oddly comforting. 

I was used to those eyes. It made me feel as though I was back at home. 

Blythe followed after me, trotting happily and looking around the area. I resisted the urge to pick him up for some comfort. I knew that it was going to be unsightly. Carlisle didn't say anything, he simply followed along, his arms crossed over his chest. He didn't offer his hand to me and I didn't have the confidence to ask for it. 

I sometimes wished I could be as ignorant as Blythe. 

Leyrin seemed to gaze back at me as I gave her a blinding smile. "We prepared a single room for the couple but. . ." Her voice trailed off in seeing the two of us in an algid state. 

"That's fine," Carlisle grumbled out, his words were curt—"We don't want to be a bother."
