Sweat rolled down Sara’s forehead and dripped into her eyes as she reached up to clean the cobwebs above the windows. She had been working for the Lamprey’s for two weeks, coming in to clean twice a week. And did their house need it!
Roy’s cousin directed Sara to the couple who lived five houses down from where they lived. The man worked with his cousin, and his wife stayed home. Sara wasn’t sure what she ever did because she never moved from the chair in front of the radio.
Mrs. Lamprey was around forty years old and weighed close to three hundred pounds. Her hair was pulled back and covered with a kerchief, and she wore a housecoat that looked like it needed a wash with stains of food dribbled all down the front.
