It is definitely no match for the Blackhorn's armor, he just knew that instinctively.

When manipulating ether, it is the pattern he learned. 

It creates a trigram shield around the host, with three little concentrated ether spots. 

These ether spots will layer atop each other when they find a focus point of impact. Normally, even for Vikram, maintaining this formation and fighting would be a problem.
