Esme and Marcus walked through the streets of Chester just after midday. He kept glancing at her and watching her curiously. Was there something on her face? Or maybe he couldn't keep his curiosity at bay. She was yet to tell him everything. But how did one tell their bestie that they used to be a Goddess and Gabriel is actually a God and a Prince of the underworld?

But those lingering thoughts dissipated when she felt her mate bond growing stronger the closer they got to ONYX. She felt the weight on her chest lift, although she didn't realise it was there in the first place until now. Her stomach was doing backflips, somersaults, cartwheels heck, there might have been a damned circus performing in there; it didn't matter. She couldn't wait to see Gabriel, and he was so close to her now. To add to her growing excitement, she felt the tugging of their bond urging her forwards.
