***NOLAN'S POV***
The sound of the thundering hooves, and various other feet, roared toward us. I couldn't even make out the sound of the animals themselves. Not a single grunt, snort, or animal cry of any kind. The hammering feet on the ground was the only sound to be heard.
And they were moving fast. Too fast. The carriage tried to move out of the way, but there was nothing that could be done. By the time we'd even noticed there was a problem, it was too late to get us out of the way.
We'd been moving slowly because of the people who were around, and by the time they were out of the way, the horde of animals was on top of us. We were doomed, and we all knew it. There wasn't a single person in the carriage that didn't know that the impact was imminent and unavoidable.
