Bab 54: LIV: the woman he dislikes
Aurora did not believe anything the girl just said. She could kill the alpha with the knife she was armed with and no matter what anyone says, she will make that happen.
Their journey continued with fair smoothness. The little girl was doing a good job of taking care of the person she was asked to guard by the Beta.

The Duke dismounted his horse as soon as he obstructed the way of the carriage the princess was traveling in.
He walked to the carriage despite how hard the guards tried to stop him with the words of their mouth.
He knew what he wanted to know and he knew for sure that those guards won't have the guts to lay a finger on a Duke.
That was one thing that baffled him most. Among the guards, he could not recognize a single knight.
With the number of people after the princess's life, even a dozen knights won't be able to ensure the safety of her journey.
A knight will most likely have stopped him considering the importance of the princess' mission but these young most likely inexperienced but obviously strong men were not close to being sufficient to protect a strand of the princess' hair.
The whole thing did not look good. He pulled open the door of the carriage and looked into it.
A lady wearing a black veil sat in it with her head bowed without any movement even in his presence.
He could guess that the girl could not be the princess. The princess was not one to hide her face for any reason.
She was beautiful and although she did not flaunt it like the other noble ladies did, she was confident.
Besides, the princess did not leave the capital wearing a veil.
He might have being drugged by the king for two days and woke up to find out she was gone but he had his people in the palace and that was a reliable information he got from them.
He was very angry when he woke up. He had planned their wedding. He was going to finally marry his fiancee who made him wait for year unending only to wake up to the news that his fiancee was sent to the very people who killed her family in exchange for her cousin who was held hostage.
He felt wronged and betrayed by the king who he trusted as the man who played the role of a father in his life and gave him the title he now has as a Duke after his father died.
The king was the only father figure he had in his life for the past decade but he has been betrayed over and over again by that same man.
He was angry but that was the least of his concern because he wanted to get Aurora back to him no matter how complicated the whole issue was.
He knew it went far beyond a simple vengeance. He was not a good son figure to the King and the king's double betrayal only made him sure of his thoughts.
Without hesitation, he pulled off the veil from the woman's face.
The woman's eyes met his eyes as he immediately recognized her as the sorcerer who was his fiancee's teacher for a decade when other girls and her cousins were learning under accomplished ettiquette teachers.
"I see that we meet again," the woman told him with the very smile that taunted him for the days he was forced to travel with her lifting the corners of her lips.
"I see that you are in the carriage instead of my fiancee," he said between clinched teeth as he tried to refrain from landing a punch on her cheek.
"Last time I heard, she is no longer your fiancee," the witch reminded him of what he had spent the few days of his journey to catch up with her carriage trying to forget and avoid.
The witch's calmness was getting on his nerve as well as her ruthless reminder.
In her quietude, she moved her gaze away from him and stared at nothing in particular.
"I think you play a major role in sending a princess to her death for no reason. I know the king loves her and won't try to hurt her unless . . .
"Unless you persuaded him to with your heart filled with vileness, as expected of a witch, a woman of the devil," he spat out with his eyes immediately turning red and his hand now gripping his knife.
The witch chuckled softly and met the gaze of the young man who appeared blinded by love to just anyone but her alone knew there was something he was hiding those eyes.
With her chuckle, he could not hold back and had his blade pressing against her neck. She did not even flinch as though she was expecting it.
"Where is she?"he asked between clinched teeth pressing the knife against the whiteness of her skin and letting a line get stained by the blood that sipped out.
Without grimacing in pain or getting scared, the witch, Aurora's teacher remained relaxed as she met his gaze once again. "Who?"
Gritting his teeth, he further pressed the knife into the soft flesh underneath it. "Where is the princess," he asked staring daggers at her.
If it was anyone else, they might have wet their pants under that dark, angry and bloodthirsty gaze which appeared more dangerous compared to the dagger already drawing blood from the seer's neck.
"If I don't tell you, what will you do?" Fearlessly looking into the guy's eyes with so much threat in it which were definitely not empty threats.
Without wasting time with his intention to kill one of the very few women he loathed, he plunged his knife into the flesh underneath it.
It happened so fast giving him not time to react.
The woman who had been in the carriage with him was now standing outside with her handkerchief in her hand as she tried to clean the blood on her neck.
