Inequality. The Andersons hated my mother. My life turned into a living hell because of that. I paid for her sins. The Andersons would never be my friends. It hurts even more when told that to my face.

I inhaled a long breath and entered the room. Kyleon's movements traveled to the bathroom. His face brightened at the sight of me. "Hey, sorry I'm late." His gaze ran over my towel. "This is new. Didn't you get a chance to shower at home?"

I squeezed the side of my towel. My emotional energy drained at the sight of him. I thought I could have handled this. It turned out to be the opposite. My physical strength died with sleep deprivation.

"Scarlet?"

I perched on the bed. His jewelry caught my attention.
