Bab 148: Chapter 2480 The stage is set for the Battlefield of the Primordial Gods
"You can't be serious," said Genesis Lotus, "After betraying us and giving that demon the chance to rise, how can we give Feng Jiu Ge another chance!?"
Indeed, Star Constellation's backup plan was Feng Jiu Ge!
"It's not so much giving him another chance as it is making a bet that he will," Star Constellation said, "Despite having the better physique and cultivation if I were Earth, I'd still choose Feng Jiu Ge as my avatar over Ma Hong Yun."
"This…" Genesis Lotus thought about it and agreed as well.
After all, an avatar was a representation of oneself it was not a puppet to be directly used and controlled at all times.
The longer one pilots around their avatar like a puppet the more they'll lose touch with their real bodies.
Heaven is the perfect example of this, after spending so long inside the body of Spectral Soul, he's lost touch with the Heavenly Dao.
Sure he could regain full control of his body with a mere thought, but he is also currently unaware of the changes that are happening as he inhabits Spectral Soul, thinking to himself that there is no way Earth could break out of that prison for at least another 100 thousand years.
"Earth still needs time to regain her full strength to be on par with Heaven once again, she simply does not have the time to be Ma Hong Yun's puppeteer." Star Constellation shook her head, "Of course, it is still up to Earth to decide."
Red Lotus had a thought: "Why not both?"

In the outside world,
Fang Yuan was still wreaking havoc everywhere as he crazily absorbed Dream Realms into himself.
"Although it's a bit wasteful I can sense that it's providing a change in the Sovereign Immortal Fetus Gu."
Indeed, even with his Supreme Grand Master attainment in Refinement Path, he was unable to advance the Sovereign Immortal Fetus Gu further than Rank 9.
Even Order was not helpful in this endeavour, it seemed as if the Sovereign Immortal Fetus Gu had reached its limits, however, Fang Yuan knew that wasn't the case.
After all, this had been the brainchild of Spectral Soul Demon Venerable, who was inspired by Limitless, how could it be possible that these 2 generational geniuses who spent, in total, almost a million years planning the creation of the greatest Gu in history, be limited?
It was definitely possible!
Every fibre in Fang Yuan's intuition told him it was possible and yet he had achieved no progress…until today!
"I seem to have found what was lacking in the Sovereign Immortal Fetus Gu, the illusory the unreal, as a Body that is supposed to be able to encompass everything, it has little thought placed into the vast world of Dreams and the illusions."
This wasn't something that Limitless and Spectral Soul could have incorporated into the Sovereign Immortal Fetus Gu as Dream Path was far too underdeveloped in their era.
Dream Realm progress was barely being scratched upon in Spectral Soul's era, let alone Limitless!
After Millions of years of accumulation, Spectral Soul only managed to produce an incomplete Pure Dream Reality Seeker Physique it was only until Feng Jin Huang, the Future Great Dream Immortal Venerable, that the Dream Reality Seeker Physique would be perfected.
Thus, naturally, the Sovereign Immortal Fetus Gu was left incomplete at Rank 9, and had seemingly no way to advance into Rank 10.
It was a faulty product, mind you the greatest faulty product in the world!
But a faulty one nonetheless, its concept holds the potential to achieve Rank 10 yet its design could never achieve it.
"But now this problem has been solved," Fang Yuan smirked to himself, he began greedily absorbing more and more of the Grand Dream Realm.
Within the Sovereign Immortal Aperture, Fang Yuan's clones were busy gathering and stabilising the Dream Dao Marks that were entering.
"Quick! We must use the Spring Dream Fruit Tree to create a Dream Path node!" Meng Qiu Zhen was directing and shouting at all the participants of the mission, creating the 10th heaven; Pink Heaven!
Meng Qiu Zhen explained: "Dream Path does not interact well with any Path other than itself, it only erodes everything that is real! We must isolate it from everything by giving it its own heaven."
Soon, an ordinary-looking tree was floating, a pink membranous barrier surrounding it.
It was the Spring Dream Tree!
A Spring Dream Tree can be considered a Rank 6 Dream Path mini resource point, it had the ability to turn its fruits into mortal Dream Path Material!
But it doesn't exists…at least not in reality, the Spring Dream Tree exists only in the realm of Dreams but it does require a tree in the real world to be bound to.
Fang Yuan had saved this extremely rare tree from being turned to firewood way back in the day, and ever since he had been nurturing it, though it hasn't been up ranked since other things took priority and Dream Path material was scarce and hard to come by.
Now, Fang Yuan had no choice but to use this as his only Dream Path resource point to create the Dream Path node.
As soon as the Spring Dream Tree entered the 10th heaven, Pink Heaven, a soft glow emerged and a vortex of Pink mist was sucked from the four corners of the Sovereign Immortal Aperture.
"Phew," Meng Qiu Zhen wiped the sweat off his brows, as he was only a Rank 6 Gu Immortal, nevertheless he had to lead this mission as he was the biggest expert in Dream Path out of all of Fang Yuan's subordinates.
"Good work everyone," Meng Qiu Zhen said: "You'll all be rewarded with 10000 points!"
The tired mission team resounded in cheer.
With the Dream Path node created, the Sovereign Immortal Aperture began to see changes.
"Hmm?" Fang Yuan felt something, he could sense that there was something different about his Aperture now, and he began to deduce.
"Fascinating! By absorbing the Dream Realms and establishing the Pink Heaven I now have the ability to collect the Dream Path Dao Marks generated by those that sleep!"
Indeed, the Sovereign Immortal Aperture now had its own system of gathering Dreams.
In the Gu World, everytime people slept and encountered a Dream they were merely viewing one of the Billions of Billions of Dreams that were generated since time immeorial.
This collection of Dreams is known as the Dreamscape.
But now it seems that Fang Yuan had managed to create his own Dreamscape which could grow from his subordinates.
"The potential is truly limitless…" Fang Yuan exclaimed in awe, "I can feel the boundary of Rank 10 getting closer and closer…"
Fang Yuan was inspecting the progress of the Sovereign Immortal Gu, through the method normal method of cultivation Rank 9 was the theoretical maximum.
There only existed a separation between the Rank 9s, from Venerable to Dao Lord, from Dao Lord to Dao Emperor. [1]
But it was all still Rank 9!
"I'm still missing something," Fang Yuan thought to himself.
He too had long seen through the illusion of being a Dao Emperor.
"Being a Dao Emperor is a cheap form of immortality," he snorted, "You'll forever be constrained to the Heavenly Dao, you live and die by its existence."
The answer was on the tip of his fingers but he was still missing something…
Fang Yuan began to start deducing, "In the meantime, I might as well leave the rest to them," with a flick of his wrist he released the Bed Bug Gu [2]
The colony of Bed Bug Gu Fang Yuan had nurtured only contained mortal Gu, with the Queen being a quasi-Rank 6.
The majority of these Bed Bugs were below Rank 4, most were at Rank 2.
But they could advance infinitely as long as they could consume Dream Path Dao Marks.
It could be said that these Bed Bugs were one of the only predators against Dream Path!
However, they weren't all that powerful or useful.
Sure, they could help fight against a Dream Path cultivator, but against any other regular cultivator?
Well, it'd be as easy as squashing a bug.
Such is the problem when one specialises too heavily in something.
After all, a jack-of-all-trades master of none is still better than a master of one.
"Consuming Dream Realms is no longer beneficial in raising the Sovereign Immortal Aperture," Fang Yuan shook his head.
At a certain point, things would reach a diminishing return, and while adding more Dream Realms would help develop the Pink Heaven, Fang Yuan found that the effort required to cleanse these Dream Realms from the influence of Heaven's Will would be too time-consuming.
"It's enough to form the Pink Heaven, with time the Pink Heaven will develop on its own using the myriad lifeforms within."
Fang Yuan's Pink Heaven would encounter certain obstacles in growing due to the attitudes of the inhabitants of the Sovereign Immortal Aperture, but that was a problem for another time.
The Bed Bug Gu wreaked havoc on the Grand Dream Realm, they began invading and devouring the last remaining bits of Dream Realms, causing untold amounts of panic across the Gu World.
"What are these things!?"
"They're consuming the Dream Realms!"
"Stop stop stop! My attainments!"
Across the Gu World, cultivators began to awaken from their slumber.
"Damnit, what were those bugs?"
All of them were furious that such a grand opportunity was stolen from right under their noses!
Among those frustrated was Giant Sun Immortal Venerable!
"That damn Fang Yuan!" Giant Sun grumbled, "He could have at least left me with some Dream Realms."
Giant Sun had profited greatly from the Grand Dream Realm, he was one step closer to realizing his own Dao.
As more and more Gu Immortals awakened the Pink Fog of Dream Realms that once covered the world gradually dissipated until only a small area was left.
It was the spot where Fang Yuan was!
Even the Dream Realms surrounding Heavenly Court had rescinded.
"It is beginning," Star Constellation cast her gaze out of Heavenly Court.
Genesis Lotus had a worried expression.
"Are we sure Fang Yuan won't intervene in our plans?"
He was worried that Fang Yuan would disturb the process and cause their entire plan to ag awry.
"Fret not," Star Constellation reassured, "Great Dream had one final trick up her sleeve."
Star Constellation smirked as her gaze was cast towards the last bit of Grand Dream Realm still floating in the world.
Within the Dream Realm,
"I knew things wouldn't be so easy," Fang Yuan stood with his hands behind his back.
His Sovereign Fetus Gu's body had taken another step forward towards Rank 10 and he was no longer susceptible to the immobilizing effects of Dream Realms.
"You've kept me waiting," a familiar voice sounded out.
Fang Yuan didn't need to turn to recognise the source of the voice, "Is this your final trick Great Dream? Influencing the past must be incredibly difficult."
It was Great Dream Immortal Venerable.
This version of Great Dream Immortal Venerable was the most mature that Fang Yuan had seen, she seemed as if an immortal fairy had jumped straight out of a painting.
Her gaze was confident and charming, yet her facial contour was soft and inviting, and her hair was of vibrant pastel pink that seemed so unnaturally natural. Her appearance was truly out of this world, perfect and desirable in every way, a dream girl.
Of course, such things would not faze Fang Yuan, but even he could appreciate a truly outstanding woman.
"You seem unfazed for someone that is trapped," her smile was both mischievous and alluring.
In all other incarnations, Fang Yuan had met this was the first that had an air of confidence and maturity as if everything was within the palm of her hands.
"Should I be worried?" Fang Yuan smirked.
Great Dream uncrossed her legs, switching from her left to her right, "I don't know should you?"
She waved her arm, creating a swirling pink screen that began depicting a scene of the outside world.
"The Grand Dream Era has ended. The Battle Of the Primordial Gods has begun."
The world rumbled at those words.
[1] I need to preface this again, yes I know that in the OG there is no difference between Venerable, Rank 9 and Dao Lord, they are all the same thing. But I wanted an alternate route that everyone else takes and that Fang Yuan doesn't.

zulbucks Heyyyyyy guys its beeeeeen sooooooooo long, I've really missed this.
While, I was gone I was so glad to see so much support continue to pour out for this side project of mine :)
I've taken the time to really plan out how I want the series to end and to, hopefully, give Fang Yuan and RI the conclusion it deserves.
But I'm still not as free as I would like to be, my stint in the army will go on until 2024 and I will only be able to periodically update the series, hopefully once a week.
The good news is that I've finally finished the Basic part of my military training which means I should have more free time to write.
I really am sad that I can't write as much as I would love to but I am grateful for the opportunity to write, even though it is pitifully little.
