Bab 132: Chapter 2466 Jue ru

"We need to find him or the clan head will have our heads…." the pursuers quickly fled.

Days passed, and the Pursuers had long left, under the assumption that the young man has somehow managed to give them the slip.

Four Months passed.

The forest no longer resembles itself 4 months ago.

Its leaves were now the colour of bright auburn and were quick to fall off.

The air was now slightly chilly, with the faint smell of winter approaching.

It was autumn.

The crunchy sound of leaves being crushed could be heard as gleeful footsteps hoping followed.

"Mhh," a joyful whistle accompanied the hopping.

The whistle was unmistakably coming from a young girl.

As she skipped and played across the piles of leaves amongst the forest floors.

"Missy! Wait!" the sound of rushing footsteps could be heard, accompanied by the voice of an older woman who spoke in a respectful tone.

"Hehe," the girl giggled: "Catch me if you can!"

The girl activated a Movement Gu and took off at twice the speed, leaving the maid flabergasted.

"The Lord is going to kill me…" the maid pulled up her dress and activated her own Movement Gu, though it was not even in the same league as the young mistress.

An entire day was spent chasing after the young mistress, who finally grew tired and waited for the maid under a tall tree.

"Jue Ru!" the little girl stomped her foot, "You're too slow!"

The maid called Jue Ru was between breaths, "I-I-I'm *huff* sorry *huff* yo-ung mistress Wei Ling."

She was beyond exhausted, after all, the young miss was a Rank 3 Gu Master whereas she was just a newly advanced Rank 2!

The gap was immeasurable, not to mention that the Young Miss had a plethora of peak Rank 3 Gu, as she was the only surviving grandchild of the Grand duke Wei Ze, the Gu Immortal in charge of protecting the Floating Flowers Riverbank. [1]

Her entire family died to protect the Floating Flowers Riverbank, during an attack from the Variant Races; Rockmen.

Their territory was surrounded, but since it was an open plain they could see that they were truly surrounded on all fronts.

Thus, they decided to make their final stand, while their leader, Wei Ze, underwent Immortal Ascension as a last-ditch attempt to save everyone.

The battle was brutal, scores of Mortals jumped in to act as cannon fodder for the few Gu Masters to try and make a difference in the battle.

It was a moment that truly showcased the spirit of Humanity within, friend and foe were willing to lay their lives down for one another, if only for that little bit of hope that their children will emerge uncaptured and free from slavery.

Wei Ling's parents were no different.

They could have chosen to hide with Wei Ze under the guise of 'protecting' him, and no one would have complained.

Instead, they dove headfirst into battle, as they were one of the more talented Gu Masters amongst their clan.

It was a pity they had no time for nature and were martyred for Humanity.

Wei Ze had always carried this guilt whenever he looked at Wei Ling, that if he were just a little bit stronger or more talented he would have been able to defy this cruel Fate.

But as a wise leader, he did not allow himself to fall into misery and quickly adopted the sect ideology that Primordial Origin invented. He invited all the most talented people n the area to join, not restricting the top positions to the bloodline, but skill.

However, he wasn't perfect, how could he not treat his last blood relative, his only grandchild, the same as others?

Wei Ling was born with a poor C Grade Aptiutuide, this fact crushed Wei Ze as he felt that Fate was truly playing a cruel trick on him, but he felt that he now had the strength to overturn Fate.

He spent countless resources on Wei Ling, from Relic Gu to Methods on raising Aptitude to an abundance of top quality Mortal Gu.

He bought it all!

He was even diverting a small portion of the Sect's resources directly into Wei Ling, but no one complained, as they were in no position to, since he was the only Gu Immortal in the Sect!

With such a spoiled upbringing how could Wei Ling not turn into a tyrant?

Wei Ling scoffed, "Hmph! Wait till my grandpa hears about your incompetence."

Jue Ru shivered, she had heard the many horror stories from the other servants.

Tales of how at the Young Mistress's whims, the entire Maid Staff could be replaced, there was even a case where a butler was executed!

Jue Ru began to break down in tears, "P-please young miss forgive me," she kowtowed onto the ground, "Don't report me to the Lord!"

Wei Ling revealed a cruel and sadistic smile, she gently walked toward the kneeling maid and held her face up by the chin, with her tiny hands.

"Don't worry Jue Ru, I won't tell the Lord Grandfather,"

For a moment Jue Ru revealed an expression of pure ecstasy.

For a moment.

Wei Ling's next words were almost as cold as ice, "But does it make sense that I'm the young mistress yet compared to you I look like the beggar?"

Although Wei Ling wasn't ugly, she wasn't exactly stunning either.

Especially not compared to Jue Ru's face, figure and demeanour, which were all out of this world, she was born to humble origins but her stunning appearances caused heads to spin.

Her figure was sublime and her skin quiet.

Her features were soft and gentle, her face as clear as snow and her lips a soft luscious pink.

She was rather tall for a female, 174 Cm, but that only added to her graceful demeanour.

No boy her age could resist her, and even those older 'gentlemen' were enticed.

Due to her lacking background, she was often courted by those of extravagant standings, as if she was a prize to be won.

She would often turn them down with the excuse that her cultivation potential would be mediocre or non-existent as her parents both only possessed D-Rank aptitude.

Both suitors and her own parents would be upset at the news but they ultimately decided it was for the best and that waiting a few years was worth it, if not even better.

And in time their decision would prove right as Jue Ru's beauty only grew more stunning each year as her body, mind and spirit developed.

However, Jue Ru always held onto the hope that she was even more useless at cultivation than her parents.

But Fate was truly Ironic.

She was actually a Cultivation Genius!

During her awakening ceremony, she was the first person to be called, naturally this meant she had no frame of reference to how it should go.

Jue Ru was instructed to wade across the Spirit Spring, as far as she could go.

So she did as instructed and began to slowly walk across the Spring, 2 steps became 4 then 8 then 2, 40, 80 until she crossed the entire Spring and arrived at the other side!

This shocked all those present as it only meant one thing…she possessed an Extreme Physique!

Before they could even identify the physique every prominent clan elder rushed to get their son or grandson engaged with Jue Ru.

This caused her mind to spin, and her heart to shatter.

Like any other teenage girl, she had read stories of princes coming to save them and live happily ever after, yet that prospect seemed impossible as so many suitors decided to place themselves 'humbly' before her.

She wasn't the brightest child but she wasn't stupid either, how could she not realise that she could no longer say no?

It may work for a while but once someone like the vice sect leader's son demands her, how could she say no?

Even though the sect was built on the concept of merit and talent, in reality, that hadn't been entirely the case.

Sure the initial roles of elders and leaders were given based on their strengths and skills, but afterwards, they themselves began establishing miniture clans so that they may retain power and build a legacy!

After all, what would a sect favour more?

A Sect Elder or Leader that had proven their capability and strength or a gamble that required more resources than the average member that has the potential to surpass them or die.

Especially since it was an Extreme Physique!

But just as Jue Ru has despaired, a ray of hope entered her life.

"Silence," the voice was neither loud nor overbearing but the room instantly went still.

It was lord Wei Ze!

He flew across the lake, demonstrating his immense strength in comparison to the Gu Master's present.

After reaching the other end of the lake, he carried the young Jue Ru back to everyone.

During their flight, he talked to her, "Child I will not lie to you, there are many people in the crowd who want to marry you, and it doesn't help that your parents are eager for you to go as well, so I'll give you a chance, work directly for me."

At the time Jue Ru thought it was a dream come true, finally, someone would stand up and fight for her sake, after all, the Duke was already a Rank 6 and had no interest in her bloodline or potential.

He simply wanted to help an unfortunate but brilliant young girl.

At least that part was true…just that girl wasn't Jue Ru but Wei Ling!

[1] An actual place in the central continent but there's no info about it so I think it's not important and I can use it for this minor story. Esp since this took place in the past.

Sorry, the new chapter took so long.

But I'm finally back at it!

Though I must say typing directly into Google Word, rather than a word docs.

Is a little weird and off-putting since its reliability is based on my internet speed, which sometimes likes to troll me
