Bab 107: Chapter 2442 There Are No Worthy Opponents
[1] Before this chapter starts, I need to point out that there was an egregious error on my part in the previous chapter, I neglected to do proper research and just threw Hei Cheng in there because I wanted to tie up that loose end. I have since added an explanation in the previous chapter as well as removed all mention of Dark Arrow Immortal Gu.

Hei Lou Lan bowed to Lord Giant Sun: "Thank you Lord Father for your kindness, I will repay you however much it cost to acquire Hei Cheng."
Giant smiled, "So she knew."
"It's okay my daughter I did not want you to have any lingering regrets, it was only a small matter." Giant Sun lied; his heart still bled.
Earlier on the Stone Continent,
"Oh, Fang Yuan one more thing,"
Fang Yuan turned around: "Hmm?"
"I know you possess Hei Cheng and well Uhm I was wondering if you could *cough* give him to me."
A wide grin appeared on Fang Yuan's face: "Of course,"
"Really! Thanks, I," Before Giant Sun could finish, he saw the greedy expression, coupled with Fang Yuan rubbing his index finger against his thumb:
"*Sigh* How much."
Hei Lou Lan then bade farewell to Giant Sun as she explored her various options of selling or absorbing Hei Cheng's Immortal Aperture.
Giant Sun saw her off from his throne: "That child will go far in the future, I can tell that her will is indomitable, and her ambitions are grand."
Light Emperor was still kneeling before the Dragon Throne, he had not said a word the whole time, patiently waiting his turn:
"Lord Father," Light Emperor kowtowed.
"Oh? My son you do not usually speak so formally with me, what's the matter?"
"It's like this Lord Father," Light Emperor began to explain his plight.
"In this Great Era, I am unable to grow, there is almost no one my match, I don't mean that in an arrogant way, I mean that everyone is either too far below me or too high above me!" Light Emperor smiled wryly.
It was indeed a tough problem!
In this Era, there were plenty of pseudo-Venerables but all of them either served a Venerable or were hiding!
The most public pseudo-Venerables were, Zhan Bu Du and Shen Shang!
Achieving the level of pseudo-Venerable was no easy feat, in the battle of Crazed Demon Cave, at least 60% of the world's pseudo-Venerables had gathered.
And half of them were Fang Yuan's subordinates or Clones!
Light Emperor had no way to compete and grow, there was no spark to light his fuse.
He currently possessed around 200k Light Path Dao Marks and was growing them steadily with the help of Giant Sun Immortal Venerable, but to raise his comprehension of Light Path beyond Grandmaster was going to be challenging.
"Lord Father, I estimate that I'll be able to achieve 300k Light Path Dao Marks after my upcoming Grand Tribulation[2]."
Thanks to Giant Sun's methods of attracting and speeding up tribulations, Light Emperor had already gone through a Heavenly Tribulation 4 times!
"I see," Giant Sun rubbed his chin: "If you're concerned about how to raise your Light Path attainment, I have 2 options for you."
"What is it." Light Emperor's eyes lit up.
"The first is that I can go acquire Light Path inheritances from Fang Yuan,"
"This…" Light Emperor shook his head: "Forget it, Father, I know that they will definitely not come cheap. It isn't worth it."
Giant Sun smiled in appreciation at his son, "I've raised you with a good heart, but what matters more to me than money is your wellbeing, among Pseudo-Venerables that are probably none that contest against you. "This...okay father I will do as you wish,"
"Good." Giant Sun clapped his hands and a Light Path inheritance landed in front of Light Emperor: "I hope you will use this opportunity well, take the time to expand your horizons this era has advanced far beyond our time in terms of ingenuity and creativity."
Giant Sun shared with his son: "Danger is all around us, recently I sensed a brief change in the Luck of Heavenly Court, though it was quickly suppressed."
Light Emperor was curious: "What kind of change in Luck would attract so much attention from you Father?"
"The birth of a Venerable."

"V-venerable!? Has Primordial Origin Immortal Venerable been revived? Has Heavenly Court regained all 4 Immortal Kings?"
Giant Sun shook his head: "No. I'm afraid they've acquired a 5th Immortal King, worse I sensed a thin Karmic tie between us before it was ruthlessly severed."
"T-this doesn't that mean that…"
"Indeed, it was some from my Huang Jin Tribe!" Giant Sun frowned: "But they no longer possess both the blood nor the providence. However, it still cannot be denied that I am their progenitor thus, a thin Karmic bond still exists."
Light Emperor asked: "Can you deduce who it is?"
But Giant Sun shook his head: "Not only is he protected by 2 Pseudo-Dao Emperors, but he is also enveloped deep in Heavenly Court, which prevents me from deducing further. In fact, I suspect that there is even a full Dao Emperor which can only be one other person; Primordial Origin."
As if to confirm his suspicion: "Looks like even the link between my progenitor status has been forcefully severed." Giant Sun sighed.
It's been a long time since he had felt so helpless.
Giant Sun gripped the illusory severed red string of Karma: "One day. I will fully grasp the Dao of Karma and stand above the world once again…maybe now I dare hope to…"

"Hmm?" Genesis Lotus, who was observing Ma Hong Yun while he used the Derivation Formation, "I sensed the presence of a Dao on Ma Hong Yun, but it came and left quickly."
Genesis Lotus went to consult Star Constellation:
"You needn't worry about that; Master took care of it."
Genesis Lotus nodded and left: "If it's related to Primordial Origin then it should be fine."
Eastern Sea,
Fang Yuan had expanded his refinement of Dao Marks from 30% of the Eastern Sea to 50%!
"That's enough," Fang Yuan stopped as soon as he hit 50%: "Any more and I'm sure Heavenly Court will come in full force."
Fang Yuan was right, Star Constellation and Heaven were both observing the progress of his Refined Natural Dao Mark.
"I can't let him occupy the entirety of the Eastern Sea," Heaven thought: "Once, he goes beyond 50% I'll contact Heavenly Court and we'll attack all together!"
But Fang Yuan stopped right on the mark.
This was just the right mark for Heaven and Heavenly Court's bottom line.
Fang Yuan knew they were planning something and were saving their energies in reserve because unlike them he had the capacity to splurge!
"Heaven owns the entirety of Spectral Heaven, even if all the present Venerables charged into Spectral Heaven, we would at best be able to guarantee our capacity to leave it. Longevity Heaven and Heavenly Court are close to each other in terms of Refinement with Giant Sun able to achieve 70% and Heavenly Court at 65%."
"I won't be able to refine any more Refinement Path Dao Marks," Fang Yuan smirked: "But who said I needed to?"
Fang Yuan had a bold idea, "Why don't I refine all the Elemental Paths as well!"

As he had obtained Supreme Grandmaster in the Path of Elements, Fang Yuan did indeed have the capability to do so!

The Refinement Path Dao Marks around Fang Yuan began to surge and gather.
This alerted Heaven and Star Constellation: "What is he doing!?"
Then the unmistakable aura of Heaven and Earth Refinement began!
"This bastard is refining Gu!" Heaven and Star Constellation cursed.
The commotion was so grand that Giant Sun, Red Lotus and Genesis Lotus cast their gazes towards the Eastern Sea:
"What is Fang Yuan doing?"
"He's refining Gu even though he has so many enemies?"
"Why is Fang Yuan refining Gu so brazenly is he not afraid?"
These questions surfaced in the minds of the 5 Venerables.
Just as Heaven was pondering, he received a message from Star Constellation:
"What do you think Fang Yuan is doing?"
Heaven thought about it: "I'm not sure, either he's extremely confident that we won't attack or he's trying to test the limits of our tolerance."
Star Constellation nodded, she had arrived at a similar thought.
Ordinarily, she would have considered even the most outlandish possibility but because Obscured Heavenly Secrets was active, and Fang Yuan was putting on a show.
She and Heaven both arrived at a reasonable, but wrong, conclusion!
Though Star Constellation had her doubts: "I can't help shake the feeling that something is off…"
She continued her deductions.
Meanwhile,
Fang Yuan was multi-tasking 3 things at once.
Refine Gu
Maintain Obscured Heavenly Secrets
Refine Natural Elemental Dao Marks
Since he wanted to play the part of testing the tolerance of the other Venerables, he had to pick a Gu that was extremely useful to him.
"Well might as well go all out," Fang Yuan decided to refine the 7 Elemental Gu!
Metal [3], Wind, Earth, Water, and Darkness!
"I have to give up on Light Gu because of Giant Sun and Fire Gu because of Heaven," Fang Yuan sighed.
The other Venerables soon noticed the auras of all 5 Gu.
"He's insane! He's actually trying to refine the Main G of the Elemental Paths? Does he really not put Heavenly Court in his eyes!" Genesis Lotus cursed.
Star Constellation calmed him down: "Even if he possesses the other 5 Elements, it doesn't matter as he will always lack the complete set."
Indeed, he would have to compensate for the lack of Fire and Light Gu with other forms of Fire Path and Light Path Gu:
"The gap in quality is not something I can amend," Fang Yuan shook his head: "This means that the elements of Fire and Light are always going to be lacking and that I will have a hard time balancing the opposites, Water and Darkness."
Since the Dao of Elements was built on the idea of stability and harmony, Fang Yuan's Dao Fruit was constructed using none of the Main Elemental Path Gu, since it would allow him better harmony if he used all related Gu instead.
"I will upset the balance if I use the Main Gu of these Paths anyway, so it's all just for show." Fang Yuan thought, a smirk plastered on his face.
"What I really want to try is this!"
[2] Wiki does not break down how many Dao Marks each Tribulation gets and only provides estimations between 40k and 340k so Grand is in the middle of Heavenly and Myriad. I say it's fair to assume a 100k+ is not unreasonable.
