Bab 94: Chapter 2429 Reckless Needs Help
Giant Sun Immortal Venerable burst forth from the corridor.
He stood arms crossed in front of the Black Orb containing Chaos.
"Fascinating," Giant Sun stroked his chin: "This Black Orb can actually store Chaos in its raw form."
Giant Sun used all his investigative Killer Moves on the Orb:
"It appears to me that this Orb was not meant to be opened," he glanced at Hei Lou Lan, who lowered her head in shame.
"Your descendant is foolish," Hei Lou Lan got on her knees and kowtowed to Giant Sun.
Giant Sun sighed: "It is no matter, this inheritance seems to have been set up for you, but it was also for me."
Hei Lou Lan and Light Emperor looked up at Giant Sun puzzled.
Giant Sun didn't dwell and flipped his palms.
Instantly, the Chaos began to retreat into the Orb and mend the opening.
Light Emperor and Hei Lou Lan were immensely shocked.
One had to know that even though Hei Lou Lan was cautious enough to only allow a tiny stream of Chaos enters her body, it was still comparable to a Myriad Tribulation!
A normal Rank 8 would die from the sheer strength of the Chaos, and it was getting stronger by the minute!
Without Light Emperor's help, Hei Lou Lan would have probably lasted only half the time.
"Venerable might is truly something else, I'm afraid that even though the Full Orb may be comparable to a Chaotic Tribulation. It would only shake a Venerable not kill."
Light Emperor's words stroked a chord within Hei Lou Lan, who gripped her fist and silently vowed:
"I must become stronger!"
After all the Chaos was reabsorbed, Giant Sun grabbed the Orb and pushed it towards Hei Lou Lan:
"You can't see it but this Orb is meant to complete the Supreme King Totem." Giant Sun held the Orb to Hei Lou Lan.
He then let the Orb touch the breastplate of the Supreme King Totem.
Instantly, bright light filled the room as the two begin to fuse together.
The change only took a few seconds, and when the light dimmed the Orb was gone.
As soon as Hei Lou Lan opened her eyes, she dropped to the floor in pain.
"W-what's happening?" Light Emperor was worried.
"Relax." Giant Sun said: "It's because she separated the Chaos from the Orb and stored it within herself, the Orb is now taking that Chaos back to fill the space. Ultimately this is the safer, better, way of storing and using Chaos, in fact, it will also allow you to absorb Chaos on your own."
Hei Lou Lan struggled through the pain and kowtowed once again:
"Many thanks, Lord Giant Sun."
She looked incredibly feeble and weak yet the determination in her eyes shone brightly.
"She's on the verge of collapsing but her will remains strong," Giant Sun sighed: "Get in and recuperate."
Giant Sun opened his Aperture and, Light Emperor helped Hei Lou Lan enter.
Once they were in:
"Okay, Reckless what do you want," Giant Sun exerted his pressure, causing the Space in the Stone Corridor to fracture.
What once was a simple Stone Room with nothing but a pedestal, was now replaced with shimmering crystal-like walls, as if one was viewing a diamond from the inside. [1]
At the centre of this room was a simple chair and table set.
On the table were several bottles of various wines, beers, rum, whisky, all with one thing in common, an extremely high alcohol percentage.
Across the empty seat sat a burly man, he wore nothing to cover his chest and abs but donned a hooded cape of Skin, seemingly sewn from various beasts and even humans!
His appearance screamed barbarian, his eyes and teeth filled with savagery.
Who else could it be but Reckless Demon Venerable!
"HA HA HA" he roared: "As expected of you Giant Sun, you saw through my little scheme, I had to attract you away from the fight and completing the Supreme King Totem was a good excuse."
Reckless's savage laughter caused the entire room to vibrate.
Giant Sun frowned.
He didn't have a very good impression of Reckless, Giant Sun was all about being a gentleman, while Reckless was about being a man.
The two could be said to be on different paths.
"What do you want?" Giant Sun was already tired of Reckless, but he was also extremely cautious.
For some reason, he could not see through Reckless's strength at all!
"Either he has some concealment method, or his strength already exceeds mine greatly," Giant Sun's mind began to wonder.
"Oh, Giant Sun don't be such a downer, have a drink," Reckless offered.
Giant Sun looked at the beverages on the table, they all emitted the thick aroma of alcohol.
"I'll pass." Giant Sun said.
"Suit yourself." Reckless began to down one of the bottles: "Ahh. Nothing like a strong whisky to start the day."
The 'whisky' in Reckless's hands was known as Dragon's Breath because it was said that after drinking just a shot of it would allow a Gu Immortal's breath to be combustible.
"Why am I here Reckless? What is your plan?" Giant Sun delved straight into the matter.
"Whoa whoa, straight to business, eh? Well, I don't blame you. You don't need me to tell you that there's an obvious last place amongst the 5, well technically, 6, Venerables."
Giant Sun frowned.
Although Reckless was crude, he was right!
Giant Sun could tell that his sum total of Luck was lagging slightly compared to all the other Venerables, this was even including all the trump cards he held such as Unified Essence Yi Qi Zi, Rank 9 Light Gu and, Incomplete Blood Sea.
While these were nice trump cards to have, compared to the cooperative nature of Heavenly Court, the vastness of Spectral Heaven and, the mysterious Fang Yuan.
Giant Sun's trump cards seemed…unimpressive by comparison.
"What's your point," Giant Sun said with a sneer.
"Hehe, I want to help you Giant Sun, we're both Northern Plainsmen, after all, you've done a good job at maintaining a lineage that is quite manly," Reckless said with a thumbs up, which irked Giant Sun.
Giant Sun was famous, or infamous, for saying, "Women are like clothes while brothers are like our hands and feet.", "Beauty is the natural dowry of a woman" and other such, 'misogynistic' quotes.
Reckless smirked: "You may have said all those things, but I know how you truly felt, you were absolutely miserable weren't you."
"Oh, sure having countless beauties to sleep with was wonderful, for probably the first 10-50 years? But after that, you missed her, didn't you? Every woman you slept with reminded you of her in some little way, didn't it?"
"You said and did all that just to preserve your lineage and explore the effects of Karma," Reckless clapped his hands: "Bravo, to think you managed to sense the existence of a Dao."
Giant Sun kept his cool, but his heart was full of turmoil as Reckless had him nearly completely figured out!
"What's your point," Giant Sun asked in an annoyed tone.
"Hehe" Reckless chucked: "Like I said I want to help you, you're too weak."
Reckless's words cut deep into Giant Sun's heart: "Indeed I am but I'm not going to be used so that you can fatten up a calf to slaughter."
"So, you know I intend to use you to have Fang Yuan grow stronger to fight against." Reckless sighed: "You're not entirely wrong but there's a deeper reason behind it."
Giant Sun was intrigued but cautious: "What do you mean?"
"I can't deny that it's true I really want to battle him but it's also because I…I…"
Giant Sun raised his eyebrows as he had never seen Reckless choke on his words: "This must be serious."
"I'm bored."
…
"I want to kill you," Giant Sun was incredibly livid.
"Oh? Would you like to try?" Reckless put his enormous arm on the table: "Beat me in arm wrestling and I'll let you hit me for free."
"Tch," Giant Sun began to get out of his chair.
"Wait wait, I'm joking I'm joking it's not the real reason I want Fang Yuan to get stronger. Actually, that's why I also want you to get stronger there's a plot brewing." Reckless hurriedly apologized.
"Hmm? Plot? What plot?" Giant Sun sat back down, intrigued by Reckless's words.
"It's going to take a while to explain but do you know what exactly a Dao is?"
Giant Sun squinted his eyes, he had felt a faint connection to such a concept, but he never truly understood, he only knew it could elevate him to the peak of Rank 9, further than a Dao Lord.
"Hehe, what you know as a Dao Lord, is only the first step of becoming a true Venerable."
Giant Sun's eyes widened: "The first step?"
Reckless shook his head: "Indeed, above a Dao Lord is what's known as a Dao Emperor."
Dao Emperor!
Giant Sun had never heard such a term but if it was above a Dao Lord, one could only imagine what sort of powers it possessed:
"Is that the mythical Rank 10?"
Reckless shook his head: "No Rank 10 is beyond the Dao its known as Transcendent Immortal. But that's beyond us for now. The only being at Rank 10 is the Heavenly Dao itself. Though at that Rank it's no longer about cultivation, it's about exceeding it, being able to live without the Heavenly Dao, or as Limitless liked to call it, True Immortality."
Back in the Void Sphere,
Fang Yuan awoke to the feeling of cold, wet, and salty water prickling his skin.
He found that he was underwater, yet an air bubble was allowing him to breathe.
He tried moving his hands, only to find them stuck to Black Oil.
"This is…" Fang Yuan soon realized what was happening: "Hmph! To think this move is a Human Path Killer Move but is able to use Dream Path effects!"
"But if they could detain me so easily, why didn't they just kill me? This move must have its limitations or they're just that naïve."
Fang Yuan was interrupted as he found that he was running low on oxygen in his air bubble:
"There's nothing I can do now except pass out from lack of oxygen, soon she will come and save my life."
[1] If you want a clear mental image of what I'm talking about, go look up the Marvel What If Series EP 4, where Doctor Strange gets imprisoned in a crystal sphere, same for the Void Sphere but on a much larger scale.
[2] Related to chapter 2427 (92), I did not know there already existed a Good Gu, and a Bad Gu. To avoid confusion in the future I want to retcon my Good Gu into Benevolence Gu.
